The Chicago Bears are coming off a 5-12 season, but they've become a destination for players after the hiring of Ben Johnson as head coach. New Bears wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus sees a bright future for Chicago, which is one of the biggest reasons why he signed with them.
Zaccheaus knows what Johnson brings to the table as an offensive mind, where he led a Detroit Lions offense that led the league in scoring with 28.2 points per game over the last three seasons. Now, with a rising team like the Bears, Zaccheaus explained what excites him most about playing in Johnson's offense.
"You see what his offenses have done in the past, just the creativity in the play calls and just how great the offenses have been and how productive they've been," Zaccheaus said, via ChicagoBears.com. "That really excites me. And you also just watch film and tape of how hard they play for each other. That's something that's right up my alley. I'm just excited to get to work and build on that."
Despite a disastrous 2024 season, the Bears have some big pieces in place on offense, starting with quarterback Caleb Williams, who set NFL and franchise records during his rookie season. Zaccheaus will be part of a receiver group that also features DJ Moore and Rome Odunze, and the sky's the limit for this offense.
While Johnson has said that this Chicago offense won't resemble Detroit's offense -- given the different personnel -- there's little doubt that Johnson will be able to utilize his creativity and offensive genius when crafting an offense around a Bears group that features its own set of playmakers, now including Zaccheaus.
