What is the deal here? Is this city that apathetic? Are the club seats priced too high? Is the economy that bad?

I would think the hype would be high, and this game would have sold out by tuesday or wednesday.

I was surprised to see the lack of interest as well; times are tough but this is NFL football at its best right now.

They have nothing to do with each other. It didn't matter how good or bad the New York game went, a game against a team that we have no real rivalry with, and who is doing less than stellar this year, and who doesn't provide us with transplants who want to see the team they grew up with, and in a rough economy all adds up to a hard to sell out game.

Besides. As of last night, there were only 1500 seats left to sell. There won't be a blackout Sunday.

btw: club seats dont count against the blackout

really -- the seat needing to be sold are for the most part 375 seats in the four upper corners

Get used to it. They don't sell all of their tickets as season tickets, they have 2000-3000 single game tickets available. Throw in the fact that unemployment in the Phoenix area is over 10%, it is to be expected and will happen with every game this year, except maybe Green Bay.

Those really arent valid excuses IMHO. Unemployment say at 10% still leaves you about 3.7 million gainfully employed people in the greater PHX metro area to sell tickets to. Thats a ton.

And lets not forget how much money people have saved by NOT attending D Backs games this year. Should be plenty of sports fan dollars around!

Reasons it will not sell out:

1. All those midwestern transplants probably are going to sit on their couches, stuff their faces with cheese and beer, and watch the GB-MINN drama unfold on NFL Sunday Ticket...

I mean, why go see the defending NFC Champs, and current NFCW leaders, coming off of their biggest win of the season, when you can get your Favre on?

We're going up against the most compelling game of the season.

2. Oh yeah, and the unemployment reason too...

3. No Carolina fans in the desert...

Yep, I think this game was doomed from the start as a non-sell out. Pathetic.

Even if employed, that doesnt mean they are making anywhere near the amount of money they used to. Many peoples hours have been reduced to less than part time hours, including me.

BUT I will be at the game Sunday!!! lol

And by the way the economy has a TON to do with it I know many people including myself that would be there if not for the financial situation I happen to be in!

What a freakin shame.Although I have a funny feeling this game will get an extention and eventually sellout.I agree its the favre effect for this week probably.

We did'nt want the cheeseheads in CARDINAL red anyway. They'd be the ones sitting on their hands.

Since its so close to a sellout,I know the hardcore CARDINALS of the RED SEA are and were gonna be there.I doubt I even see one play of the drama on direct tv.I refuse to even change channels on commercials.Hope the packers run it up on them since they lucked out in the Ravens game when the Ravens missed a chipshot fieldgoal to win.

If the packers move their best rushman back from OLB to DE Kampman can do some damage in this game against the decrepped one. He's totally out of place in coverage.

Put favre on his hiney. You know the packers qb is gonna go down with the wild man rushing in Jared Allen. He's the best this year by far.The mullet is coming.Hope our last game is not for the second home field advantage BYE.If so we're gonna have to really play a protection game for that guy.

What nashman says. We would have bought an extra pair of tickets if things didnt happen. With the housing market and the tech market bottoming out here, the economy has a ton to do with it.

It doesn't leave you with 3.7 million gainfully employed people. Your approximation of gainfully employed people includes minors and people attending universities & colleges. Employment figures for September were 1,935,800 for the Phoenix Metro Area. That does count part time, minimum wage, etc.

I gotta think the Vikings game will easily sell out. They bring enough of their fans anyway, then you throw in Favre. I was at that game last year and it seemed like half the crowd was in purple...

It also doesn't count, oh, say....CARDS fans. How many of those 3.7 mil are even football fans? Of those, how many are Cards fans? Of those, how many prefer to watch on TV? It's ridiculous to just say "There is 'x' amount of people in Phoenix" so it should sell out. Just doesn't happen that way.

I'd say the vast majority of folks here in AZ flat out can't afford it.

Your telling me that out of 4.3 million people in the valley only 1.9 are gainfully employed? Not sure I buy those #'s at all.

Also an NFL team shouldnt have a problem selling out in a community of 500,000 much less 4.3 million. Economy is just a scapegoat IMHO. I realize that there are some people that would go who havent due to that(nashman). But just in sheer poulation #'s even in 1.9 million there should be another guy right behind them ready to step in and take that ticket. Especially for a winner.

Besides we have debated this same crap a zillion times over. All will be moot anyway the game will likely sell out.

Why is football any different than basketball? The Suns aren't always selling out, yet their games are always on TV. All 81 games basically. Why would the Cards get screwed when they only play a fraction of that?
