The game will sell out, I think what Shane is saying, and I agree, is that the valley has a poor percentage of people who support the local teams. He!! there's enough $ and folks in Scottsdale alone to fill that stadium 5 times over.
So it's 1.7 mill...what's Green Bay's population?

That team has been a part of that community since 1919. They have won more championships than any other team. Think about that.
I agree with Shane though, the game will sell out. The longer this team wins, the more solid the ticket base will come in the down times. Up until last year kids became Cowboy, Packers & Steelers fans because their parents were. Now they are becoming Cardinals fans because their friends are.

wow that sucks it might get blacked out i'm out of town right now so hopefully they have it on tv where i'm at highly doubt it though ;( but ill just try to find the game on a p2p site.... But i'm going to the vikings game in week 13 can't wait hope we destroy favre lol.

NFL rules stipulate that a game must be sold out or it will be blacked out in the home teams local market.
The other North American professional leagues do not have this rule. Thus, the Suns could sell zero tickets for a home game and it could still be shown on local TV.

The Suns have sold out the past 3-4 seasons...They have one of the longest streaks going in the NBA currently.

It will be sad for those who can't afford to buy to miss the game. Mt two brothers as examples. They just can't afford tickets. The rest of them......I will be there and I will watch the game upclose and personal!

Somers just posted that we got an extension and that less than 1,000 tickets remain.
Usually, the local TV station would buy up the rest to ensure no blackout. BUt since apparently the rules have changed and they can show the MIN-GB game in its place, I had a bad thought.
Would the TV station forgo buying the last handful of tix so they could show the other game in the PHX market???
Usually, an extension means someone has already stepped up to buy whatever is left at the deadline. I hope that is the case again.

Also those numbers aren't taking into account the number of gainfully employed people that may be able to afford tickets but are unable to attend because to remain gainfully employed they must work on Sunday, small numbers maybe but if you tell some employers you can't work on Sunday they are more than willing to find someone to replace you who can and there are many people around here that are waiting in line for jobs.
It was more difficult to retain my season tickets this year, and I anticipate the same for next year, because of the economy. Anyone saying that is a poor excuse hasn't taken a walk through my checkbook. To keep them we had to make sacrifices in other areas, this of course is a personal choice, im sure there are others in my same situation weren't as lucky as I am who just had to choose differently.

Say what you will about 9% or 10% unemployment. That is what is going on nationally, (not so here in AZ) I just read an article in the Mesa section of the Republic that says the TRUE figures for the vallley are 17%, (not 10%), when you add in those who have given up on finding a job, or who are mereley working for peanuts in a part time job because they can't get a full time one.
I have two extra bedrooms available in my home, and both have been full for the past 3 years because of the economy. Many young people out there have been unable to find GAINFUL employment. My 34 year old son is living back home with us, because he can't get a job. He doesn't do drugs, is healthy, and has some college, (though not a degree yet). He also has a good work history. He has been told by DES to go back to school and change fields to either health care, or computers, because he can't compete with those in his field who have degrees, more experience, etc. That is what he is doing, and it sucks because he hates it. He can no longer support himself with odd non-paying jobs however, so he is doing it.
I also have two neices who have shared the other bedroom, both descent kids, both hard working, neither with a degree, one just out of high school. Neither was able to get a job that would support them on their own, and neither could stay at home. This is a sad situation in this country, and it is not getting better.
So I would be very cautious when it comes to calling out people for not spending money to go to any sports events. Some people don't have the wherewithall to live, let alone recreate.
I will agree with the poster who said that many will be home this weekend watching GB and Minn. That is unfortunate, but we do have a lot of transplants here in the valley who DON'T support our team. Seriously. Every week there is a home game there's "omg the game might not sell out!!!!" thread, yet every week there is a home game it ends up selling out. Hmmmmm, I wonder if there is a pattern here? The last thing I'm worrying about (cardinals related) during the week is whether or not our home games will get blacked out.
