Nash showed tonight why he is a future Hall of Famer.

This was as thorough an ass-kicking the Spurs have suffered anytime during the playoffs (although I think the Pistons may have beat them by a larger margin in the NBA Finals two years ago).

Spurs played poorly, but the credit goes to the Suns for coming out fast and hard and getting them out of their comfort zones.

Thomas was fantastic--just fantastic.

Congrats for a great win.

screw that. I welcome the break for my santiy and Nash and KT's wind. We desperately need to be as fresh as possible to steal Game 3 cause after that, it's every other day.

can I just say this - I respect the Spurs and their fans A HELL of a lot more than the Mavs - but that really goes without saying. Fans takeon the personality of their team and the Spurs are a class team. Props to you Greg.

Ditto. This board is so much more pleasant than it was a week or two ago, before the Mavs ate it (tee hee). :)

Except for the dirtyness they display on the court. Will you expect that from Mavs? I'm talking about Duncan's grab of Amare last game and Ginobili's grab today.

No, I don't have any respect for such bums.

The frustration is misdirected on these two plays. If the refs had made the proper calls, then there wouldn't be an issue. Can't really blame the players if they're able to get the call (or non-call).

But it does show their mentality. They are great players resorting to cheapness.

In game 1, D'Antoni got warned a couple of times for complaining about calls while Pop never let up. The Duncan grabbing call was so awful it defies description and it came because the Spurs bench conned the refs into calling a foul they obviously didn't see.

In any case, even former Spur Steve Kerr calls the Spurs the biggest bunch of whinners in the NBA. Obviously I wouldn't resent it so much if it didn't work.

The Spurs know every dirty trick in the book and they use them all. Their timing on them is usually perfect too. For example, in Game 1, Duncan's flop against Stoudemire gave the Spurs a huge momentum push heading into the locker room. Similarly, tonight, Ginobili's (multiple) cheap shots kept the game close when the Suns came out hot.

The Spurs fans on this board have been basically cool, much better than Mavericks fans. But the actual Spurs as a team, I can't stand. I hate Ginobili, I hate Horry, I hate Bowen, and although I admire Duncan he also drives me crazy. Mainly, I hate them for getting away with it. The only players on the team I like are Finley (because of his time in Phoenix) and Parker (because he's damn good and, although this board will never admit it, is basically the second coming of Kevin Johnson).

I hate the Spurs almost as much as I hate the Lakers. The Mavericks, eh, whatever, they aren't really relevant anyway.

The refs took notice of the tricks. In one incidence in this game, Amare collided with Horry slightly on his way back to defense, Horry conveniently fell. No call! They also didn't call him for traveling. That's a good sign for the game.

Keep your fingers crossed they don't run into Violet when they get to Texas.

The problem is that the refs switch for each game. I'm afraid we're due for a Salvatore or Javie game...

One thing that bothers me is how Duncan seems to be moving his feet a lot without EVER being called for traveling, but everyone else gets it called on them.

Now we are talking about officiating, could anyone tell me about the 3-second rules? Duncan dribbling in the paint, then the ball was poked loose without Suns player ever having control of the ball, 5 secs later TD recovered the ball and went up for shot. Is that a 3 sec violation?

I was screaming about this at the game, just because the ball was loose for a second doesn't mean he should be able to stand in the paint the entire time. Then again it's Duncan so you can't ever expect him to be called for 3 seconds in the lane or travelling.
