Apr. 2—ST. CLOUD — St. Cloud State's Reese Holzhueter drove in a game-tying run in the bottom of the sixth inning to send the Huskies to extra innings with the Bemidji State softball team.
It was the last run SCSU would get in the first half of the doubleheader.
The Beavers scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning to take the first game 8-4. St. Cloud State rebounded in the second game to win 9-1 in five innings.
Aimee Christenson singled in a pair of runs with a single to give BSU a 6-4 lead. Mariah Stevenson also singled in two more, scoring Aimee and Alexa Christenson to put Bemidji State ahead by four.
Kennedy Joachim finished off an impressive pitching performance in the bottom of the eighth inning. Her complete-game effort included eight strikeouts, four hits, four earned runs and seven walks. Joachim moved to 9-6 this season in the circle.
Aimee Christenson went 3 for 4 with a triple and four RBIs.
The Beavers had just three singles in an eight-run loss in the second game. Bemidji State is 15-19 (2-8 NSIC) this season, while SCSU is 26-11 (5-4 NSIC).
