While it's hard to imagine the Cincinnati Bengals spending a first-round pick on a running back, the team is certainly doing due diligence on Boise State superstar Ashton Jeanty.

Every NFL team, including the Bengals, had a rep at Jeanty's pro day, according to Mike Prater of KTIK 95.3 FM The Ticket.

Jeanty doesn't figure to fall all the way to No. 17 and Cincinnati in the first round, not after his Heisman candidacy last season included 2,601 rushing yards on a 7.0 per-carry average with 29 touchdowns. In 2023, he also had 569 yards and five scores as a receiver, making him all the more appealing to a team like the Bengals.

Even if Jeanty did take a tumble down the board, the Bengals project to address the defense. That, or something as equally rare as drafting a running back, such as selecting the top guard to upgrade the offensive line.

Still, the Bengals will be on the hunt for a player to work in the rotation with Chase Brown, who had 990 yards and seven scores last year across 229 carries, plus 54 receptions. They'd like to keep him fresh all season, especially with Zack Moss' neck injury still a major question mark.

While unlikely, Jeanty joining the same backfield as Brown and with Joe Burrow at the controls would seem pretty unstoppable.
