Veldheer. Of course the Cards history under Graves was less than stellar.

I am more and more impressed with him every week. I know I was on the Eugene Monroe then Brandon Albert bandwagon but Veldheer has played at an elite level all year. Couple that with the fact that he's been playing with a below average LG, it's even more impressive. Veldheer was signed at a reasonable contract and should be a fixture for years at a huge offensive position.

I know some will point to Warner as the best signing but I'll say Warner was the most fortunate signing because nobody expected him to come in here and do what he accomplished. Veldheer was at a position of need and there was plenty of competition to sign him. You can't say there was a whole lot of competition to sign Warner.

I'd have to agree. You don't find good LT's in free agency. How did the raiders mess that up so badly?

I don't know if Veldheer is the best FA in Cards history, however it is the quietest signing in Cards FA history...When it first went down, their was a little pub, but their has been absolutely no mention of him, by the national media since then...As much under the radar as their ever has been.

Bertrand Berry was a pretty good FA signing...of course with Graves that was a matter of the blind squirrel finding a nut.

Only because Carson Palmer wanted him. That was his left tackle with the Raiders - they just had to wait until he became available.

That would still be #1 for me. But, I have no problem rating Veldheer #1 when he has played for us as long, and as well as Berry did.

Warner has to be first. A key component in turning the franchise around, and a legit NFL MVP candidate in 2008.

Berry is close -- Veldheer is in the mix.

This. Whis or no Whis without Kurt the Super Bowl run doesn't happen.

That's not to say to say the Jared Veldheer signing wasn't excellent. You have to wonder what the Raiders were thinking.

Warner has to be #1 because of the SB run etc. Berry had a great immediate impact but don't forget he went down for the season 2 years in a row. Velheer is also having a great immediate impact so we just have to wait to see how long it lasts.

I will say other great FA signings have been, Old Abe, Los, Cro, Foote and Powers. Also add Fanika and Larsen as decent signings because they are starting and mostly keeping the QB from getting killed.

it's gotta be Warner. Dude led us to the Super Bowl and another Wild Card win the next season. He wins above everyone else.

But Veldheer could end up being 2nd when all's said and done. Dude's been a very good LT and if he plays that position for us for the next 5 years, you couldn't ask for more in FA.

Los was great, but was a one year rental, same as Old Abe (and likely Cro this year). And while Berry was great his first 1.5 seasons, he was just okay after that. Anyone else hasn't made near the impact those guys made.

I know Buddy Ryan ruined the team for the salary cap, but I totally loved him signing Clyde Simmons and Seth Joyner (still one of my favorite Cards)...

I liked Bert Berry because he signed here when we never got jack squat in free agency. Yeah, Kurt was the most impotant free agent here, but does anyone remember that Berry sacked Warner four times in a game against the Giants here and then Warner signed with us? We won that game, it perhaps made it more palatable for Warner to sign here.

I also liked Pete Kendall. he was another good free agent in those dark days when we got very little good in free agency. Plus, he had the awesome answer of "Because it was the most money", when asked why he chose to sign with the Cardinals at his first press conference.
