First of all, until proven otherwise, I refuse to believe Monti and JG would spend a ton on someone like Myles Garrett. This guy got suspended for a long time for taking a QB's helmet and swinging it at him. There has yet to be a FA signing by this regime who had a disciplinary issue in his past. We are talking about JG. The guy who got extremely upset when there was a fight between the players during practice in preseason this year. I don't understand how the AZ media seems to be ignoring this fact. For the same reason, I would not be shocked if Zay Jones is not on the opening day roster.

You have to factor in possible "discipline" issues when you sign a player just in terms of how likely they are to miss games. It is as important as injury risk sometimes.

Not to mention the "culture" aspect that is very important for us now.

Disclaimers:

1. I expect us to fill the offensive guard position in the draft, with the first pick. The 2025 Draft has a ton of dline depth but lacks oline depth. Also, offensive guard is an extremely expensive position to try to find in free agency. I think as we get closer to draft day the consensus is going to solidify around us picking Tyler Booker G from Alabama. We can then add DL depth in the 2nd and 3rd round. But that is just my prediction and it is the reason why oline is not included in the below.

2. Cardinals reporter confirms our huge amount of cap space and EXTRA potential:

3. Which means don't worry so much about the players we need to resign.

Player Estimated Market Value (Spotrac)

Cody Barton $6.6M
Milton Williams $12M
Josh Sweat $18.8M
Tershawn Wharton $7.4M
Olamide Zaccheaus previous was $1.9M (will be higher)

Kristian Fulton $4M

Josh Sweat vs Milton Williams

I am hoping we don't go after Milton Williams. He is a one-trick pony who specializes in pass rush. PHI lined him on the outside even though he is 291.

Why would we pay the most of any FA for someone who can only play about 50% of snaps?

Makes more sense to pay Josh Sweat more imo if we are going to make that huge splash.

There are better options available. Josh Sweat the other PHI name we are going after.
He is versatile vs run and pass, plus he was on the field about 15% more.

Here is a possibly cheaper, but similar value we could add instead.

How is Wharton not rated higher than Williams when he played more snaps, got more sacks/tackles?

Wide Receiver

Obviously there are the big names but what if we want to look in terms of separation AND someone who has produced?
This guy caught 70% of the passes thrown his way. He is in the top 10 in terms of separation. And WAS just added Deebo.

On average, opposing defenses were giving him a 7 Yard Cushion.

This guy simply was not thrown to enough.

You could obviously go for the better overall WR last year and get someone like Darius Slayton who will cost more.

But like our WRs, Slayton failed to separate.

Cornerback...its complicated for us.

Our CB unit has improved just with Garrett Williams being our most improved player alone. Thomas played above average some games and tackled well.
He played as an avg CB in most other games.
Max Melton had ups and downs but finished upside. Those 3 have a ton of potential. The issue is Sean Murphy Bunting.
Specifically, the lack of production, penalties and the big plays that SMB gave up. He is getting paid $9M and part of that is to teach so it is not all for naught. But I would love to have another option if he and any other CB's struggle.

Here is the type of guy we could get that shouldn't cost too much. If we wanted some insurance.

Linebacker...replacement for Kyzir White.
Another reason not to blow the bank on Milton Williams.

Kyzir White and his 140 tackles are expected to leave.

Getting a LB who specializes in run defense seems like something that would make sense after losing your biggest tackler.

He might even be an upgrade. Anyways, I was just looking for players that were not as well-known. Curious what you guys think.

Nice analysis on your choice of free agents for the Card but I do agree with Stout that the Cards are not gong to draft a guard with their first round pick. IMO it will be either a DT or Edge rusher. They will pick up a guard in free agency. Many are available.

It looks like a decent CB class but I think we are set there and am fine going into the season with melton, Williams and Thomas and whatever we can get from SMB and jones.

TBF, they may go OT. I don't like the idea but view it as realistic.

We also have Elijah Jones too, who red shirted as a 3rd round pick. You'd hope he could be the 4th CB.

The plan I have in mind is,

Reddick/Koonce/Ojulari - I think both these guys command around the same money, it's just picking your poison. Younger guy coming off injury, older guy coming off a down year, younger guy that's been erratic.
Will Fries - The best Guard available after Smith's tag. Was having a great year but missed most of it with injury.
Will Hernandez - Hernandez has to come back IMO
Darius Slayton - I don't know what the market will be like for Slayton as he's been a role player so far, but I like that role for us.
Calais Campbell - I don't care how old he is, he's still a great player and I would think a move attractive to both sides.
Devin Bush - Was a rotational backer last year for the Browns playing 50% of snaps, but he played well and I like the former top 10 pick as a reclamation project. Only 26.

+ 2-3 others you could pick from 30 names. There's a whole bunch of guys that aren't super stars that can play a role and make the roster better.
