Meh on Kirk. WIlson can do anything Kirk can do and more. If we are going to sign a WR I want a outside receiver with long speed and Wilson moves to the slot.

I really like Olamide Zaccheaus. He runs a 4.47 and was top 10 in WR separation. Caught 70% of passes thrown to him and now with Deebo there he will get less involvement.

Being aggressive in sports generally works. Everyone has known the Bears major issue has been on their offensive line and QB. Before FA has hit, Ben Johnson prioritized upgrading the offensive line and they traded for a 2024 Pro Bowler and an established vet he knows from his time in Detroit. Slightly different than Elijah Wilkerson, Dennis Daley, and Froholdt even though Froholdt has become a top 12 NFL C to Monti's credit.
Good point.. being aggressive got Rams a SuperBowl and has kept them as a playoff team even after that

Bro am I on crazy sauce? He has 19 career starts. He's never played 50% of the snaps on his own team. He's gonna get paid more than Dexter Lawrence? He's gonna get more guaranteed money than Derrick Brown

We can afford the contract and he is only 25…there is nobody else to spend big on except for sweat…we will be getting out from under Kyler’s contract next year anyway….

He'll be 26 next month.

We're gonna spend big on Trey McBride. Spending foolishly because you have money to spend is not the way to go about it.

I think Sweat is a decent starter and upgrade over what we have today. He is not an elite edge, so he shouldn't get paid like one.

I would like to see us sign Reddick and Mehki Becton (G).

James Daniels (G) from Pittsburgh and Koonce (edge) from Raiders are interesting but coming off season ending injuries.

The 49ers announced they are cutting Javon Hargrave, who would be a nice get for us at DT.

Is Kyzir coming back or maybe Nick Bolton?

Why aren't we talking about Byron Murphy?
The corner? Because we drafted two corners on the second day last year, have another extremely promising young corner in Garrett Williams, Starling Thomas V playing better than replacement level for the rookie minimum, and Kei'Trel Clark, who can do a standing backflip.

Further investing in the secondary right now seems like a low-upside move. This is BM2's one shot at building truly generational wealth -- an unrestricted free agent at 27 reaching the peak of his powers. He's probably not looking to "come home." He left two years ago with more than a little acrimony.

I hear what you are saying and that is not what I meant with that post. I want to spend!

Sweat might get $20M plus, which would put him right below Hendrickson.

His production doesn't match that contract - unless JG thinks he can turn him into a double digit sack guy every year...it's an overpay.

I want to spend the money - I also want to get the right players.

We also have to consider that the edge class is one of the best we have seen recently.

Keep in mind, Sweat had to take a pay cut to stay an Eagle last year. Why wouldn't the Eagles keep him like they did Baun?

The NFL is not and has never been a "you get exactly what you pay for" league, especially in FA. It is common practice to have to overspend in FA. To expect to get decent production for decent money without buying cheap and hoping for gold (like with Fro) is to misunderstand the market. I'm fine with overpaying Sweat because it's not going to break the bank for us. We can frontload the contract without hindering our cap. It's not hard to do especially with the oodles of space we have.

So what's the right player that we can get on a sweetheart deal that will have a high chance of giving us desperately needed production rushing the passer from the edge?

Reddick - his worst year since he became a pass rush specialist is Sweat's best year. Not counting his hold out this year.

Also a good year to draft another edge to go with Reddick.
