Best Freshmen in the Pac 10

Early of course but check out WR DeSean Jackson of Cal. He turned down USC and in his debut today against Sac state he has a 31 yard TD grab and a 50 yard punt return for a TD.

Lynch had nearly 140 rushing in just over a half.

whoops, realized I wrote freshman with an A not an E my point was for people to list names of guys they wanted included.

who did California play again? I think it was ITT Technical School of Bakersfield if I'm not mistaken. :)

Herring will be a solid Pac10 player, but Jackson's going to be a 1st round draft pick and probably be a 1st team all American by the time he's done at Cal.

OK this is Wierd that I am going to say this. I was impressed with the UA receiver. And of course Keegan.

I liked what I saw from Thomas as well, but part of me thinks that he was so impressive only because the rest of Arizona WRs are so bad. I'll take solace in knowing others fans were as intrigued as I was. I really have no clue why Steptoe and Thomas aren't on the field more, they may be undersized but at least they can catch the damn ball unlike our starters.

Keep in mind he did have to deal with the starting QB getting hurt, the backup going 0-10, and then the 3rd stringer comes in, who played FB last year.

Tedford's QB guru status is going to be tested this year, they have a freshman they were going to redshirt and now people are saying by midseason he may be the starter if Ayoob doesn't get better.

They also had to deal with that ferocious DeVry Institute defense too.

And Keegan Herring had to deal with an embarrassingly awful Temple defense missing half it's starters.

Yep, NAU would beat Temple. You don't see me chest-beating over that game or anything that happened in that game.

wasn't this the same guy who hot dogged it and fumbled the ball before scoring in the high school all star game last year?

Herring solid pac 10 player huh? I bet if he was playing for Bob Stoops little brother down south your projections would be much higher. I can smell Wildcats fan all over your breath.

You're pretty observant.

Yeah, same Desean Jackson but he did make the high school All Star game last year in which he torched the other team's secondary so take that for what it's worth. He also could have gone to basicaly any school in the country and his physical abilities are off the charts but you're right I'm just a homer who will jock players only because they go to a certain school. That's why I admitted having doubts about UA freshman receiver who seemingly every UA fan other than me is already comparing to Dennis Northcutt after one game.

I'm not claiming Sac state is great mind you but when a QB goes 0-10 it limits what a WR can do. After the game Tedford claimed Jackson was open for a TD at least 3 times where Ayoob or Levy failed to get the ball to him, he said something about "we had guys open all game, we just couldn't get it to them."

The scary thing for Sac State is that Cal's top 2 Wr's didn't play, Lavelle Hawkins didn't become eligible in time(Juco transfer) and Robert Jordan was serving a one game suspension. At least for now Jackson is the #3 WR behind those 2. Going to be interesting to see what they do at QB now.

is it me or is there a frightening lack of good QB's on top 25 teams this year? Miami and FSU took the cake last night, at least Miami eventually got some good QB play FSU was just horrible but won the game anyways.

Yep same kid. Super talent, a bit of a hotdog.

But when you're good enough to reject USC, Miami, Florida State et al, that might go to your head.

When the kids learns how to hold on to the ball he will outstanding!! He already is but should have at least 2 more TDs with 2 fumbles inside the 5. Yea i think it is obvious who recruited the best instate Running Back last year.

At this point, it's pretty clear it's Herring.

He's awfully quick. He's in a better position than Jackson, he gets the ball quite a bit. Jackson is a WR on a team who's not throwing that much due to QB injury and having a good running game.

Herring is legit, he's small but he's very good.
