Rigatony's in Chandler. The antipasto salad and dressing is killer, the mozzarella pull aparts are a great appetizer, and the baked rigatoni with sausage for an entree. A bottle of the house Chianti and your set.

The only thing that's bad in the lack of parking. Also call ahead for a rez.

I pick Buca Di Beppo or Macaroni Grill.

and this shows the sad state of italian food in phoenix..........

although nothing fancy I like cucina tagliani and i've heard of a couple good places in scottsdale, although I haven't made it there yet

i like macaroni, bucca & carrabas (hate olive garden) for various reasons, the fact remains these places don't operate in areas that have good italian restaurants

you could walk into any place in little italy, south philly or north beach and wipe any of those places out of the water

Right on!! Bucca is anything BUT Italian... It's mass-produced Americanized Italian at best...

As a full-blooded NY Italian, I find it very difficult to find true, authentic Italian food here in the Valley. However, I have found a few spots that come very close and provide a great environment! Places like Sassi, Veneto Trattoria, Tutti Santi... And for lunch, Meatballz rules - Bobby from Jersey is friggin AWESOME!

Thank GOD someone has something to say other than chain restaurants. Its not unheard of, certianly, but almost as a rule if a restaurant has had the furtune to go national, thaey have most asuredly lost the authenticity factor. Its just too hard to keep it up in a mass produced situation.

In Denver, try Luca D'Italia http://www.lucadenver.com/, and in NYC I love Batali's joint, Lupa. The best pasta and best charcuterie Ive ever had. http://www.luparestaurant.com/

Look up a place called Casa Mia in Scottsdale almost to Fountain Hills. Excellent grub. Run by Italians. Worth the drive, I promise. Best Italian food in Arizona.

Excellent call Mulli! Went there 2 weeks ago and LOVED it! They actually make their pasta fresh each day.
Another place is LeCabaffi over on Mountain View and Hayden in Scottsdale. Great place!

Another good place is Il Pescatore at Thunderbird and Scottsdale road. I am not sure if it is still there though.

Macaroni Grille is a joke. I will never eat there again.

Two great italian places I have been to are in central Phoenix

SE corner of Morton/16th St. (can't remember name)

14th St/Northern (can't remember name)

I just drive there.

I laugh at all these posts saying that a chain restaurant is the best. In and Out best burger, Buca as best italian, etc.

NO CHAIN RESTAURANT IS THE BEST!

Riazzi's Italian Garden on Mill and Alameda in Tempe.

Hands down the best Italian. Shame on everyone that said Buca.

I have a softspot for Mancuso's in Scottsdale, but the food at Riazzi's is better.

I used to eat lunch there about once a month. It is okay.

Please tell me that you think that it is better than Buca. They also have a different dinner menu. (or at least they did the last time I went)

i think i know the restaurant you're talking about. my friends just went there last week and said it was absolutely amazing. they make their pasta and mozzarella fresh on site. they have a mozzarella, basil, and prosciutto appetizer that's supposed to be to die. i think it's called marcellinos, or something like that. definitely begins with an m.

I think one of them is Tutti Santi...that is at 16th just south of northern. Just south of the Point Hilton.

My choices: Venetto Trattoria, Laccabaffi and Giuseppie's (28th St and Indian School next to Sprouts...short on atmosphere, but best red sauce and its BYOB.)

Giuseppie's is pretty good. I think there is one in Scottdale as well.

I know that one too....its near that spy shop and Stumpy's deli. I think it is Macellinos. That is good.
