and this shows the sad state of italian food in phoenix..........
although nothing fancy I like cucina tagliani and i've heard of a couple good places in scottsdale, although I haven't made it there yet
i like macaroni, bucca & carrabas (hate olive garden) for various reasons, the fact remains these places don't operate in areas that have good italian restaurants
you could walk into any place in little italy, south philly or north beach and wipe any of those places out of the water
Look up a place called Casa Mia in Scottsdale almost to Fountain Hills. Excellent grub. Run by Italians. Worth the drive, I promise. Best Italian food in Arizona.
Riazzi's? meh, sorry DCR.
Have you ever been? It is really great food. I am still in shock that A couple here have said Buca.
I used to eat lunch there about once a month. It is okay.
14th St/Northern (can't remember name)
I have never been to Bucca, but I would eat at Riazzi's first. Please tell me that you think that it is better than Buca. They also have a different dinner menu. (or at least they did the last time I went)
Two great italian places I have been to are in central Phoenix
SE corner of Morton/16th St. (can't remember name)
14th St/Northern (can't remember name)
I just drive there.
I laugh at all these posts saying that a chain restaurant is the best. In and Out best burger, Buca as best italian, etc.
NO CHAIN RESTAURANT IS THE BEST!
Giuseppie's is pretty good. I think there is one in Scottdale as well.I think one of them is Tutti Santi...that is at 16th just south of northern. Just south of the Point Hilton.
My choices: Venetto Trattoria, Laccabaffi and Giuseppie's (28th St and Indian School next to Sprouts...short on atmosphere, but best red sauce and its BYOB.)
i think i know the restaurant you're talking about. my friends just went there last week and said it was absolutely amazing. they make their pasta and mozzarella fresh on site. they have a mozzarella, basil, and prosciutto appetizer that's supposed to be to die. i think it's called marcellinos, or something like that. definitely begins with an m.
