i'll take larry bird and rick barry, maybe even john havlicek, before dr. j, then pippen...
OK, I'll agree with Larry Bird, but not Rick Barry. And didn't John Havlicek spend many years as a 6th man? Pippin was a great 2nd banana. The team didn't revolve around him. And when it did, it diminshed his ranking.

I chose the Doctor mainly because he revolutionized the position of Small Forward. Not just because his birthday is the same day as mine (as well as the Van Arsdale twins, for you long time Suns fans).

So did Connie Hawkins earlier, but not to the same degree. And not to a Championship.

Yes, there are many legitimate opinions.

i could say personally that dr j did to the the small forward position what wilt did in the center position. skillset wise though, while the race is tight and it could go either way, i'd take barry and bird all day. havlicek, ok, let's move him back, and pippen, well, yeah, he's just a second banana (and maybe a little overrated but the skills are there. the fundamentals are there as well as the natural gift of height and speed...

either way, i still couldn't decide so i'll leave that open. i'm sticking with lebron though on my "power lineup" if his level of play continues. but hey, i'm not counting dr j out. it might even be the case that majority of voters would take him over my selection. i guess it's all about perspective...

edit: umm, actually, i'd like to put wilkins ahead of earving, too (no pun intended) XD

You guys are disrespecting Amare. He wants to be the man and he plays tenacious defense. He should be the power forward in any "all-time best" lineup.

In a van...down by the river.
OT: Sort of...
MJ
Harper
Pippen
Rodman
Wennington

with:

Toni Kukoc
Randy Brown
Luc Longley
Brian Williams
Jud Buechler

and:

Dickey Simpkins
Jason Caffey
:mulli:yeah i know this isn't the point of this thread but that team was unstoppable.
Reg season: 72-10
Only 3 guys averaged in double figures scoring, team loaded with solid defenders at every position except the 5 but Wennington could shoot and Longley could block some shots.
MJ: 30 ppg, 6 rpg, 4 apg and 2 steals.
Pippen: 19 ppg, 6 rpg, 6 apg and almost 2 steals.
Kukoc: 13 ppg, 4 rpg, 3.5 apg and a steal.
Kerr shot 51% from behind the line and made 122 of 'em.
The Worm gobbled up 952 rebounds....and averaged 15 per game(including almost 6 offensive rebounds per).
Playoffs: 15-3. Yeah...Fifteen wins and three losses.
I miss MJ and Rodman, Pippen not so much.
