Absolutely. Chap - I got a question for you - it seems like from what I've gathered that you are an appreciator of classic cinema and more high-borw type flicks lately. Someone posed this question to me, because I have evolved relatively the same in the last five years or so. Do you think if Schwarzenegger's early movies came out now, you would still enjoy them as much? I mean I love watching his oldies even to this day and own many of them like Commando, Predator, Total Recall, Running Man (Terminator - but this is in a league of it's own) and the like, but most people who hadn't seen them when they came out, can't believe I love these movies and tell me if they came out today I would trash them like most other horrible action movies that come down the pipe nowadays. Curious for your thoughts.

Well, good question. Total Recall--probably, but as for the others, I think tastes have changed--especially since Jurassic Park and the renaissance of special effects.

I mean, look at Commando for example. I love it, it's got the humor and action you like. Taken as a film, it is no better (and no worse) then, say, Eraser or Collateral Damage. But why aren't those later films as well-received? It's a matter of taste nowadays, I guess.

When I was a kid, it was great being a 15 year old and being able to see the violence of a Schwartzenegger movie, but that same violence now is PG-13 stuff and pretty tame. Now, the only reason those movies would get an R rating is primarily because of their language.

It's just a different culture now. Nobody really likes the standard action fare, but there are some great movies out there. A couple that come to mind is The Transporter and Tears of the Sun. So they ARE out there, but most people seem transfixed by the "event" film, like X2, Matrix or Hulk.

In a van...down by the river.
-Star Wars(why do fans hate on Return of the Jedi?)Other than the Ewoks it's great.
-Lord of the Rings
------------------
Also, since Star Wars is actually 6 movies i'm going to include
Alien-Scifi horror in it's purest form.
Aliens-Best sequel ever made IMO.
Alien 3-Considering the circumstances Director David Fincher shot that movie under it's an underrated, misunderstood film.
Alien 4-As for Resurrection, well,it's not as bad as it appears at first glance. Winona Ryder badly miscast is an eye sore but Ripleys
character is actually pretty interesting.

Godfather is probably the best.

Bourne is a really good one.

I really want to get the Infernal Affairs import on Bluray.

How about the Spaghetti westerns with Clint Eastwood?
The Good the Bad and the Ugly
A Fist full of Dollars
A man with no Name

Not my favourite but they are still classics

You're choosing a "trilogy" that isn't even a trilogy yet? Heck, the 2nd movie isn't even released yet!

And yet, it works. Foreshadowing if you will.

I have absolutely no doubts that Dark Knight will be good, probably better than BB.

Besides, the Godfather trilogy holds up with 2 great movies and a subpar 3rd.

I agree with you. LotR was fantastic. I hated the Ewoks so much, I haven't even seen the 2nd Star Wars trilogy.

Not sure about trilogy, but the best quadrilogy is definitely:

3 Ninjas
3 Ninjas Kick Back
3 Ninjas Knuckle Up
3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain (by far the best of the series)
