Went with arguably the best movie of all time. Godfather. He probably has the most impressive resume in all of Hollywood.

It was me. He carried the movie on his shoulders, whereas in the Godfather I didn't think that was the case.

Both Godfathers (III doesn't count), Scarface, Heat, The Devil's Advocate... he's just damn good in everything he does.

Well, Any Given Sunday was a bit of a trainwreck, but hey he was outstanding in it

I like Pacino, but I just can't see the "best actor" comments. His acting technique is almost as comical as William Shatner's. Shatner has "pause acting." Pacino has "shout acting."

I would probably vote for a Brit for best actor ... Anthony Hopkins, maybe. I'd even prefer an Al Finney. These guys can do anything without imposing their characterization onto character. Pacino is always Pacino, no matter who he's playing.

In terms of Americans, I'd probably go with Kevin Spacey as the guy who covers a lot of territory with credibility.

With Pacino in 1990+, I can agree with your comments. He has become a caricature of himself.

Have you seen Dog Day Afternoon, Serpico, etc? I think he is a much different actor back then, sans Scarface.

That is probably fair. I always like the kind of actors that make you forget they are playing someone.

Donnie Brasco is one of my favorite movies. Pacino did a great job.
