All this is a testament to how bad the quarterback situation really is in the NFC right now. What a bunch of losers. Matt's ranking will rise as he matures, but it's way too early to put him anywhere but in the middle. There are a lot of guys who've taken their teams to the playoffs, and #7 hasn't done anything yet.

A few weeks back, I read a statement about the sad state of QBs in the NFL. The statement made me stop and think.

What he said was that the poor QB play was not so much for lack of skill or raw ability but for the lack of OCs and QB coaches in the NFL. Maybe the guy was right.

Sorry, I can't remember who said it, specifically, or where I read it.

See, I think it's mostly the NFC. I think in the AFC, you have pretty settled QB situations, with stars (Brady, Manning, Palmer, Roethlisberger, etc.) and rising stars (Young, Cutler, Rivers, etc.) and a bunch of vets kind of settling in to the end of their careers (The BAL QB, the guy in KC--I don't know why the games are escaping me). And you have a bunch of solid contributors who are going to have to be pushed out of their starting jobs, like David Carr and Chad Pennington. I'm actually pretty comfortable with what's going on in the AFC. They're not all necessarily scintillating stars, but I'm a bigger fan of a strong running game and good defense, anyway. But you know what you're going to expect from week to week and there's a good mix.

If you had to pick the top 15 starting QBs in the NFL, I think at least 2/3s of them would be from the AFC. There are backups in the AFC who would be starters in the NFC, like Huard and Plummer and maybe even Boller. It's a bad situation.

With our boys there's always a reason to worry. Military Service,NY Jets, Hip, Rodeo, car wreck, domestic problems, telephone answering, wrestling with friends, microfracture surgery.........
