Collectively, wedges are the most versatile clubs in your bag and are put to use in the broadest variety of situations. From the fairway, you often make full swings with your pitching wedge and gap wedge, but you might also use those clubs when you need a low, running chip shot around the green. From greenside bunkers, golfers rely on sand wedges and lob wedges, depending on how high and far they need to hit their shot, but those clubs might also be used from the fairway or the rough when you need to pitch the ball, and players reach for them when they face awkward lies and other situations around the green.

Because wedges need to do so many different things, manufacturers spend a lot of time and energy creating wedges with different lofts, sole grind configurations and playing attributes. However, that can lead to confusion for golfers who don't understand concepts like bounce, camber and distance gapping.

To make it easier to find your ideal combination and type of wedges, several manufacturers have developed online fitting tools. With just a few clicks, these systems can provide you with club, loft and sole grind recommendations.

The wedges you will see below are many of the best and most-popular offerings for 2025, but the list is just intended to act as an educational starting point. As always, the best way to discover your ideal wedges is to work with a custom fitter who can evaluate your performance with several different wedges and who knows the courses where you play most often.
