Two top coaches are available in Mike Malone and Taylor Jenkins. Let's do this.

Coaching isnt our problem. We hired the top candidate 2 years in a row. Doing the same a 3rd year won't change anything.

Malone should have been fired years ago. After Suns in 4. He got spared by injuries to Murray and then Jokic becoming other worldly. I think they'll end up better for this but it'll take some time given they've essentially thrown in the towel this post-season.

Mike Vogel did a better job of coaching a lesser Suns team to a winning record. In retrospect, maybe he should have been given another season. Can a team make a mistake twice in a row… absolutely.

The Suns should be playing better fundamental basketball. I can't give the coach a free pass when the team is so painful to watch.

With that said, the Suns problems lay at the feet of the GM and ownership. They put everything together.

Incredibly depressing that there are two top level coaches available, and neither will likely give us a sniff.
I’m tired of this team lazily just looking for the next retread, especially the one and sone title winners that underachieved before and after their lone title wins.

Look at the Thunder/Cavs/Rockets/Celtics… all went with young up and comers to turn their teams around. Just feels like Jones and Ish have been going after name recognition.

I see Malone especially, but also Jenkins on a different level than Vogel/Bud, but maybe that's recency bias.

Regardless, I think getting either at this point would be a pipe dream. We'll be forced to get an up and comer or a guy like Chauncey.

This I agree with and admit I was wrong as I wanted Vogel fired.

I think fundamentals are a player issue at the professional level. A coach can try to rein in those mistakes but ultimately the players have too much power in the NBA and coaches are regularly fired for questioning stars.

With that said, the Suns problems lay at the feet of the GM and ownership. They put everything together.

No dispute there.

Bringing it back to Malone. It's a little odd that ownership ditched Malone and their GM at the same time when all reports I've read so far put Malone and their GM at odds. Maybe their inability to make it work frustrated ownership but I think ownership deserves some blame for failing to keep certain pieces that would have kept Denver competitive.

@Hoop Head

It's been kind of a weird season in regard to head coaches being fired and Dallas trading Doncic.

About the only thing that would shock me now is if Denver traded Jokic during the offseason.

I actually don't think this is the right thing to do.

You should not pay big dollars for an established coach for a rebuilding team - and like it or not that is what we will be.

If we fire Bud we should replace him with a young up and comer.

I haven't thought through the head coaching hires if the Suns go that direction. I'm only expressing enthusiasm for change.

Hopefully a new GM will be making these decisions.

There has to be more to this story. Nuggets are in 4th place coming off a 4 game win streak. IMO, something personal had to have happened. I could then see the GM sticking up for said coach and the owner saying...well you are fired too.

This makes no sense.

Charania is saying on the radio that there was some tension between Malone and the organization over the team’s prioritization of financial sustainability. The team was in saving tax money mode at the expense of the team who is in a win now period. Malone and the GM felt this would hinder their abilities to do their jobs.

Now they are fired. WOW.

Why pay up for a new coach when we’re going to be bottom of the barrel for a long minute.
cuz it's not our money? cuz bud is pretty crazy with the banishments which isn't good for young players' development? cuz bud let his team turn the ball over 87 times a game all season long and never did anything about it? because he never wins a challenge? this is all of the top of my head

Did it seem like Bud's challenges were his version of a middle finger? Like why challenge a play like that, now in the first quarter.
