cant they sign someone but have a press conference a week later after vacation? does the press conference really have to be immediate? does it make any difference?

I have my concerns but BA getting in front of a mic and talking the guy up isnt going to change any of them

Sure.

What BA says will have an effect on me. Bettcher is such an unknown and his resume does not include any experience in running a defense. On paper, he is not what one would call "qualified" for a job of such magnitude.

It seems that BA didn't even conduct a DC search---that he had "his internal candidate" in mind and locked in weeks ago. Why keep everyone in the dark all this time? I don't get it.

So you dont see how paying a lower salary would benefit an owner seeking to maximize his net income? It does not necessarily mean anything but just to close your eyes to the possibility means you would refuse to see it if it became accepted that it was true. It is still possible to underpay a green coach. Why does an NFL team promote a green coach to DC when he wasnt going anywhere. Odds are based on track record the Big Red would be hiring a new DC in a few years either to replace a failed one or to replace a successful one who was hired away. So why not let the guy get a few years seasoning?

I dont buy that they are promoting him to save money, I buy that they are doing it because that is who BA wants. BA doesn't care about saving ownership money, he cares about winning. Every comment you make is about how new england is better than us and how bidwill is holding us back and etc. I dont think the sky is falling and I dont agree with the stance you are taking here. that is all.

How do other teams handle the announcement of hiring a DC? If I were hired into the position I would want my employer to bang gongs and blow whistles while they praised me and what it meant to FANS. Nothing is owed to the people buying the tickets?

He cant do the press conference after his vacation?

I dont watch press conferences anyway. makes no difference to me.

If we hired Dick and didnt have a press conference, would you still be upset about no press conference?

I'll save you time.

"Bettch is awesome, hes a great coach and will be the next great DC. I bet we lose him in a few years to be a head coach just like Todd. The scheme wont change so it should be an easy transition and I expect the defense to get even better!"

Nah, this is BA, we can do better

"I would bet on Bettch any day. He is passionate about the game and has been waiting for this opportunity for a while. This is what this franchise is about, next man up. I remember talking to him the first time back at Po Dunk U and one could tell even then that great things where in store for him. Just last week he was working late at the facilities, writing down all the players names so we would have them ready to adhere to the Niner locker rooms in the Super Bowl next year... he can't spell worth a crap but he knows football!"

And I know you are a homer who will never find fault with the organization despite how many times teams like NE are in the Super Bowl and the Big Red isnt. You accept the status quo and I dont. You keep defending the family that has failed at ownership and I dont. I am happy to give them credit if they gain success. One of the things successful teams do is model behavior from other teams that are successful. Other teams have a press conference to announce major things to the media and the fans. It is almost like they afre embarrassed to announce who they hired. It is like when having a friends with benefits relationship with a woman you dont want to be caught dead in public with. The Big Red won 10 games last year and were on NBC one time. Why is that? Is it that the networls have been burned too many times with giving the Big Red the spot light and have them lay an egg like they did against Seattle? Why does that national audience prefer seeing GB over the Cardinals? It isnt population of home towns? The Giants are on national TV a lot because NY is big. Phoenix is closer to NY in population than GB yet doesnt appear on national TV with regularity of GB or NYG.

I've been out of the loop.

Did this happen or are we still waiting for an announcement?

Right now on azcardinals.com there is no DC listed on the coaching staff.

no, ive found plenty of faults, I just dont make mountains out of mole hills. I have concerns about the bettcher hire but it has nothing to do with Bidwill, it is a BA decision. I have no reason to defend the family as this has nothing to do with the family.

You have been a fan for a long long long time and you have seen how much better the last 10 years of cardinal football have been since Mike took over yet you are still complaining about ownership even though major strides have been made.

Ill pass. Not having a press conference while on vacation has nothing to do with being embarrassed about your hire. I bet they have a press conference as soon as BA is back in town.

You dont think an owner can lay out a budget for a coaching position and ask his coach to not exceed that budget? I dont know that was what happened. I am open to possibility that is the case. You think Bidwill had zero input on who was hired and for how much? I suggest you read up a bit on the Bidwill's

How many Super Bowls have been won in last 10 years? How many winning seasons in those 10 years? I want the Big Red to be an organization that is frequently on national TV and frequently in the Super Bowl. The Big Red's best winning pct is still 11-3 season in 1975. How many teams go back to the 70s for their best record? How many teams have never won 12 games in a season? How many years do you give before you have doubts?

I'm glad you have a hunch that this is all about the Bidwills being cheap. Good for you.

yes I think that could happen.

No I do not believe that is the case whatsoever under the current circumstances. Not even close.

But again, the ONLY posts I have ever seen from you are bidwill bashing quotes about anything and everything you can bash them for so I am not surprised that you think everything circles back to the bidwills trying to fail.

Not quite. All BA has said directly is "we are hiring from within" and "it's one of the young guys."

MJ tweeted two days ago (per a source) that the word is the DC will be Bettcher.

Many people including myself have been speculating that he's Bettcher and he probably is---but BA has never said so publicly.

I thought he said it on radio row but I could be wrong.

Urban did retweet it though

Darren Urban @Cardschatter · Feb 1
Sanders ex-Packers DC RT @mikejurecki: #Cards will announce tomorrow OLB James Bettcher as DC, Bob Sanders as one of LB coaches, per source.

Young on the Cardinals staff could mean 85.

Your ridiculous claims fall apart under the fact that Michael gave Bowles a big fat raise on his way out the door.

Why would he do that if he was just looking to maximize his net income?

stop saying logical things. The bidwills are cheap and want us to lose games so they save money.
