I don't typically bet (other than friendly, low-dollar bets with buddies), but for some reason I got a wild hair up my butt today and opened an online acct and placed these bets:

Chicago/Carolina: Under 34.5
Philly/NY Giants: Under 41
Kansas City (-7) to beat Houston

For all you veteran gamblers, whaddya think?

Looks like I'm going 2 for 3. Bears/Panthers and KC look like winners, but I lost on the Giants game due to a big 4th Q.

I bet the Bears and the Chiefs heavier, though, so I'm good.

It's almost a bummer, because now I'll probably keep betting. I know I'm probably going to lose in the long run. :(

I used www.betonsports.com. I can't vouch for it because I haven't tried to collect my money yet, and probably won't until the end of the regular season.

Seems to be on the up and up, though.

EDIT: I thinm SWD bets online, though. Maybe he knows of a better/different site? SWD?

I highly recommend www.sportsbook.com. I have collected money on this site. I won BIG when the Buckeyes won the national championship. They paid up, the check cleared, and they don't report it to the IRS. They are traded on the London Stock Exchange and have a world of free contests. I've won $1000 twice in these free contests in the past three years. It's an awesome site.

I have used betonsports for years. They are a good site. They have always paid.

I use betonusa.com

I took the Bucs to win on the money line in a parley with the cowboys to win on the money line. 25 bucks won me 80 :D

Im up 250 this year!

Id stay away from the over/under its a total crapshoot. The only good times to play that is when there is an unstoppable defense like the ravens 2-3 years ago.

I just took Atlanta giving only 3.5 to the Lions on Thursday. That, like the KC line giving only 7 to HOU, looks too good to be true.

So, I won twice on Thursday. I took ATL and DEN (-2.5).

Today I have NO (-1.5) and SD (-4).

So far, I'm 6 of 7.

My open tickets are:

Pittsburgh (+8.5)
vs. Indy

and for next week,

Seattle (-3.5) beating Philly.

This free money stuff is great.

I'm 14 of 15 so far in my weekly pool - I've already won.
The only pick I got wrong was the Cards - I'm 8-3 picking them now...

Hey Pariah (or anyone) ,

What are the rock solid picks this week?

I'm looking at Minny to cover the spread (-3) vs. Detroit and Tampa (-3) to cover vs. New Orleans.

Thoughts?

I don't like much in the nfl this week, so other than taking Seattle laying 3.5 at Philly, I have a small wager on Colorado getting 28.5 against Texas, and I'm thinking about taking UCLA getting 21 against USC.

But, I really like the SD bet.

BTW, obviously, I'm 6 of 8 now after the Monday night game. Could be that my luck is changing.

Jags are a good bet this week. I'd also take the Pats over the Jets. Could be a real blowout.

say the vikes are favorite (-145) you have to bet 145 dollars to win 100

The lions are underdogs (example +120) If you BET 100 you win 120 Money line is way better than point spreads. Great for parleys.

I see. So you just pick the winners straight up, but risk more than you'll win.

I may start doing that next week.

heh money line on that is -600. Means you have to bet 600 to win 100. No thanks.

Can you tell I never bet on football? I'll stick to the brokerage account. Better odds.

You have to trade the Santa rally!

The good thing about stocks is you can usually salvage most of your gamble if your stock turns in a Cardinal like performance.

Speaking of the Cardinals, tough spread this week. They are 3 point favorites.

SF has been a home dog in every game so far this year. Beat 4 of 6 of them. The two losses were to Indy and Giants.........both used 2 4th QTR TDs to cover. This is the slimmest margin SF has had to cover all year. 3.

Both games went to OT last year.........on the fence on this one big time.
