They had a great array of interviews today---from BA, to Fitz, to Matt Barkley, to Troy Aikman, etc.

At the end of the program, Bickley asked MJ what his biggest take away was from the interviews...

And both concurred that Larry Fitzgerald was very evasive when asked whether he approved of the coaching changes---and that in their opinion, Fitz did not sound very happy, as if he sees more of years of losing to come and that the last three have dispirited him enormously.

I would be very interested in your thoughts.

As much as I think we all love Fitz and want him to stay---

Would the Cardinals be wise to see what kind of a package another team would be willing to offer?

Ah yes Aeneas Williams syndrome. Was watching a show on it last week on the Discovery Channel. Easy to diagnose, very hard to cure.

Herschel Walker type package? In a heartbeat. Roy Williams trade? (1/3) Sure.

Anquan Boldin trade? Meh.

Maybe he's just butt hurt because he wasn't consulted.

"and that in their opinion, Fitz did not sound very happy"
and one can also take that as respect to the past coaching staff without putting a interviewer in the position to do what they do best and that is called promoting drama.

only Fitzgerald knows what it feels like, these are just opinions of 'sounded' like to me

Without hearing what he said and how he said it, it's hard to judge one way or the other.

He also might be reserving judgement not wanting to put his endorsement on someone only to have it blow up in his face.

Considering BA likes to throw deep, has made the comments he has about our receivers, and seems to be making moves with the coaching staff to focus on the OL, I don't know why he would think otherwise.

Or perhaps he really wanted Ray Horton. Maybe he didn't like how the whole Ray Horton thing went down.

He could have been tired or worn out from all the media no doubt hounding him.

Perhaps they pegged him right. We'll see.

If we go offensive line in the draft and keep 2 or more of our current QB's then yes I'd gauge what Fitz could bring. May not pull the trigger but I'd look. He's wasting away on our roster and its not fair to us and certainly not to him. If we're going to rebuild our line and wait a couple years to draft a franchise QB then absolutely. At this rate he'll qualify for discounts at Golden Corral with Arians and Moore before he sniffs another SB.

This. A lot was made of how Fitz gave his endorsement for the Kolb signing. And I'm sure it wasn't his call to make in the end anyway.

It's gonna be a tough division for many years to come now and we're sitting on the bottom of it. How should he feel at this point!?

He's gonna be at 17M next yr. That's gonna be something we have to deal with. Can this team go forward in this division with that salary or do we bring in more young receivers? Quick and fast with good hands. Keep the D intact and rework the O. Gotta do something. The O is the obvious one (to rebuild). It has to start soon. Times wasting. LF isn't going to put butts in seats at this point. I love him, but you have to be real here.

Only question is the CAP implications beyond this yr.

It also could be that Fitz isn't sure about this staff as nothing has happened of any consequence to this point. It's not like he's a really effusive player to begin with.

Yes, I would trade him for a #1 and a #3.

I love Fitz. He's the best human being in football with a lot of talent. But that's like having a charcoal grill without charcoal. Let him go somewhere with a QB that can put up numbers.

His contract is going to be a very unfriendly cap obstacle, so I don't know.

Nobody is untradable when you have as many holes to fill as this team does.

Personally I think his contract alone makes him impossible to trade.

No matter what we're on the hook for his HUGE signing bonus. His signing bonus would accelerate. He has 50 million in guarantees. Now I don't know how much of that is signing bonus and how many are late contract roster bonuses or even maybe some sort of other trigger, but my guess is probably AT LEAST 35 million is signing bonus.

Now since he's signed through 2018, that means he has 6 of 8 seasons left of signing bonus. So roughly 3/4 of at least 35 million means 26.25 million at least is destined to come off our cap regardless of anything. Probably a bit more.

How is it we are going to take a 26.25 million dollar cap hit (and in 1 season)? Why should we? A 1st and a 3rd isn't worth that sort of penalty. Hell I wouldn't do it for 3 1st's from a perennial losing team.

We would also be thus 'discounting' cap wise that same amount over the last 6 years of the deal for the team that picked him up. So basically if the cap is 140 million, that team would effectively have 145 million. A top flight guy they are paying medium prices for, allowing the rest of THEIR cap to be spent elsewhere. So for 6 years us and anyone else would be fighting against that as well. Granted it may or may not come back to haunt us, but could.

Didn't Arians say Fitz was the first guy to call him after he was hired?

First player to meet him as well. First player to ask for the playbook also.

I heard the interview with Fitz and it just sounded like Fitz. Had nothing but great things to say about BA and Moore. This is Fitz we are talking about, every single one of his interviews he is evasive, the most evasive interviewee of all time, dude picks his words very carefully. HE is just tired of losing in general, has nothing to do with the coaching change. He doesn't want to say the wrong thing or say a bad word about anyone, he will leave that up to his Dad and Bro's tweets.

I did not hear the part where MJ and Bickley were talking about the interview afterwards but I think their may have been a lot of hyperbole when discussing it thus take it with some grains of salt.

That alone makes me think he was ready for a change at HC, instead more of the same. "If it ain't broke", but it was broke, so gotta fix it......

I thought something was changed in the new CBA about bonus acceleration to make trades easier?

Bick & MJ creating drama outta nothing. Fitz was thrilled with the coaching change and has met with Arians numerous times since the hire. Probably had him and his Wife over to his house for dinner. Nothing to see here,...move on.
