I was under the impression that the only people who were in the Super Bowl lottery were the ones that bought two or more club level seats and the suiteholders.

Or was that a special lottery before the regular one for the average joe season ticket holder?

That's what I thought too. I can't remember. Maybe you get guaranteed SB tickets or something.

Yep and the first time we spent buncho cash on a HC we misfired.

I hope we do better next time

But the point is that the Bidwills did put up the money. DG had the credentials. I also hope we do better next time.

I think the pitch is as follows (delivered by Michael Bidwill):

1. We have a great young core of players, including a QB
2. We have a top 5 draft choice
3. We have $40 mm in cap room
4. We have a new stadium to produce revenues
5. I am in charge and desperately want to win

I think that its an attractive package, and as they say, there are only 32 of those jobs out there.

Clearly, numbers 1-4 are facts while the first half of number 5 is fact and the rest is my opinion. Anyone who has talked to Michael about the team comes away beleiving that he wants to win badly -- its just a question of how quickly he gets his dad to move.

I think it is a good pitch and will get us a quality coach. We gave a very good contract to Denny so you really can't fault the Bidwills and they have the money to do it again and even up the ante.

#5 should be changed to "you are in charge and I'll do anything within reason to ensure we're successful"

Item 1: Whether the 8-8 season came before or after the Super Bowl, the Super Bowl would only have a negative effect on ticket sales the year after the game since the carrot of getting Super Bowl tickets would no longer exist.

Item 2: The coach who doesn't think he can win here lacks the self confidence to be successful anywhere.

Item 3: As the population continues to increase, only recession will significantly impact attendance in future years.

Item 4: Don't go promising people high draft picks. This team has a habit of winning just enough to miss the very top of the draft.

As we all know the new Cardinal stadium is sold out this year. What really is at risk for the Bidwill's is losing the fan base and eventually corporate sponsors and corporate boxes. I'm not saying the Denny must be fired in mid-season but a house cleaning must take place at the end of the season. The fan base must have a reason to renew their season tickets. Getting a new coach, gm, signing free agents and a top draft are needed. They have star names to build on especially Leinart. What happens in the next several months will have a financial impact on the organization. We can all be upset if Denny is not fired this week but IMO the bottom line is what happens in early January (note the last game is Dec 31).

Good. I used to watch this team for the football. Now I watch because I like seeing the Bidwill's gasp for air.

It is very fullfilling, in a very petty way, to watch the Bidwills squirm, and for people to point and laugh at them.
