Take him where, not 1? Gambo is buddies with ainge, knew they were taking brown last year, says they are taking fultz with a 1.

Broussard, bill simmons, chad ford all said the celtics also love tatum.... but I'm assuming only if they trade down a few spots, i.e. philly makes a big offer for fultz.

If the Celtics want Fultz and Tatum they could offer up Brooklyn's 2018 pick + something else pick for #4.

I watched his draftexpress scouting video. His ability to get to the rim consistently is listed as a strength. The film was impressive.

If the Suns draft Tatum, I will not be disappointed. There is a lot to like.

I think every fan has their favorites. Also, I'm not a big fan of Duke basketball. Tatum may look even better in the NBA where he has more freedom to exercise his talent.

I trust whoever McDonough selects.

Are there really that many of them? Let's say he has the tools to get to 20 ppg by his third year or so. The NBA had 31 players at that tier this season, an average of basically one per team. That's not exactly a surplus. Getting that from a big or a point/combo guard is different from getting it from a wing. Looking down the list, here are the legitimate wings that I see (in descending order by scoring average):

DeRozan
James
Leonard
Durant
Butler
George
Wiggins
Antetokounmpo
Anthony
Thompson
Booker
Hayward

If one believes that Tatum's overall game could develop to the level of any of those players above, I don't see the hesitation in taking him at #4.

If the assumption is that he's a 20 pt a game guy, that is clearly worth a top 5 pick. The problem is, if he's a 15 point a game guy who doesn't do much else, that's a bad top 5 pick.

Some good reasons as to why the Suns should consider passing on Tatum

http://arizonasports.com/story/1120971/five-reasons-why-suns-pass-duke-jayson-tatum/

I'm not sold on this kid. I don't think his ceiling is even higher than TJ Warren's. He seem a like a hybrid of Rudy Gay/Marcus Morris and I'm not sure that's worth a top 5 pick.

I'll take Isaac over him. Smith Jr is intriguing because he has the total package besides the health issues. If the suns training staff are confident that it won't be a reoccurring issue then yeah he's high on my board. I like Fox quite a bit too.

That is just Kellan Olsons opinion and he has not been too spot on in the past from what I can recall he hated Marquese Chriss.

If Ball is there at 4 would you pick him? I would

If the Lakers have passed on him that might mitigate LaVar a bit. And the Clippers don't have a 1st round pick so they're not moving into the picture short of trading Chris Paul, I assume.

I agree with that. I guess I'd make the same argument about Jackson, in that I don't see him as a 20 ppg scorer unless he is able to get most of it in transition. He's not going to be cashing in at the line, that's for sure. (I understand that Jackson is supposed to be a better defender.)

I'm not sure I'm following you? Are you suggesting that Ball being picked 4th supports Lavar's decision to have his son not work out? That seems a stretch in that he was always considered a top 3 pick back when it was assumed he'd actually audition for his job. Or have I missed your point entirely?

In my opinion it's not really a big deal. Players do this all the time. Christian McAffrey did this pretty much said you got film on me and the combine how much more do you want.

I just don't know why he wouldn't wanf to go to Boston a long history of winning, they were the 1 seed, made the conference finals, got a likely top 3 pick next year, money to spend on big free agents. They have put themselves in a position to be in the championship hunt for the next decade.

Lakers? Are a mess!!!

No, I just mean that if the Suns had a higher pick than the Lakers, I imagine LaVar would be publicly discouraging Phoenix from taking Ball, maybe even to an Elway/Manning extent. But if Phoenix were to draft him #4 after the Lakers have passed, maybe LaVar thinks, "Okay, Phoenix is next door to SoCal, and maybe we try to beat LAL."

Just idle speculation, though!

I get it. When the girl you like spurns you, you tend to not like her back--a lot. I could see LaVar turning on LA.
