Big East's Tranghese to step down (AP)

Big East conference commissioner Mike Tranghese will leave his job next year. He has been commissioner since 1990. He said Thursday the conference was enjoying unprecedented success and this was the time to go. He will leave next year at the end of June. Under Tranghese, the Big East expanded to 16 schools and became the nation's largest Division I-A conference.
