It’s okay to be run first, but not run only. The Colts tried that and went nowhere. This biggest defensive gaps are still in pass defense. Run heavily leads to more injuries, exhausted offenses and limited comeback ability. It’s just not practical with teams now playing 17 games. Fun idea though might work for first half of season.
I wouldnt want to be run only....but arguably our most skilled room on offense is RB, our O-Line is suprisingly not a glaring weakness for the first time in several decades, and our QB's most elite skill is scrambling and speed.

Look at the Ravens. They are run focused, not run only. Lamar and Kyler had roughly the same number of Attempt (Rushing+Passing) last year...they were just broken down differently.

Kyler - 541 Pass Attempts , 78 Rush Attempts = 619 Total

Lamar - 474 Pass Attempts, 139 Rush Attempts = 613 Total

Im not saying Kyler need to run as often as Lamar...but having a goal of 450 pass attempts and 100 rush attempts by Kyler would be the type of offense I hope we are looking at. Obviously those numbers will change based on game situations....but IMO we need to gameplan going into the season that Kyler is going to throw less and run more.....and we as a team are going to lean into the running game in a creative way, because its our best shot at winning games.

Run the Ball, Stop the Run, Force Turnovers, Convert in the Red Zone.

Those things ALWAYS work in football...it doesnt matter the era. If you can consistently do those things you will be a good team. You might not be great, but Ill take consistently good at this point.

Well we can’t stop the run. We don’t force turnovers and our red zone was disastrous the last half of the season. Guess there’s a lot of work to do.

We already are the offense you keep pounding for. We already have the players needed to run it. What we lack is something to REALLY counter that and play off of.

Yea...the other side of the ball is its own story.

I agree on offense we have the players, and have dipped our toe into the offense Im envisioning.

As a team we ranked 7th in rushing yards....but 11th in attempts...and 22nd in Time of Possession.

The Eagles had almost 200 more rushing attempts than we did.

We have something on offense that works....the power run. We showed last year that we are actually top 5 in the league in terms of "running game"....ypc, big plays, etc. We need to LEAN into that this year. More rushing attempts by everyone...especially Kyler.

We have the talent to be a top 5 rushing team, top 10 in T.O.P, and have Conner at 1200+, Murray at 800+ and Benson at 800+ yards next season.

If we do those things, there is no doubt in my mind we are a playoff team.

You kinda lose me when you start talking about Kyler running more.
Im all for pounding the rock with multiple runningbacks... but a quarterbacks job is to get the ball to his playmakers so they can make stuff happen. His primary use of his legs should be to avoid sacks and buy more time to pass.
an occasional designed QB run, sure...just to keep the defense honest
... Im pretty much out on Kyler as the guy...but even so if he goes down we are beyond screwed.

See...I think its the only option with Kyler.

He's never thrown for 4000 yards or 30 TDs...hes not that guy. We could build an entire scheme to try and get him to those numbers...but we wouldn't be playing to our..or his strengths.

Kyler has 1 ELITE skill...and that is speed/scrambling. We have seen what he can do "mixining in the run"....and he can be a good, but not great QB.

Its time to go ALL IN on making him a running QB, who's throws are set up by his own legs...our running game, play action, etc. Kyler should not be standing back in the pocket chucking it 45 times a game...hes not good enough and we dont have the WR talent.

Go all in this year. Get Kyler at least 100 rushes. Have multiple designed runs per game. etc. He is either going to excell and take us to the playoffs....or he is going to put up another mediocre year and we will trade him.

Lamar is much more durable.
