Big News .... Carrick Felix Commits to ASU !!!

Big time commitment for ASU just announced. Huge day for the Sun Devils. With Cain and Felix committing to the Sun Devils today that brings the 2010 recruiting class up to seven. Here's some video highlights of Felix:

Below is a couple of comments about Felix.


According to Devils Illustrated:

During his time at CSI, Felix has not only worked hard on his basketball skills, but he has been an academic standout as well, making the coveted Dean’s list. He added about 15-20 pounds to his frame and has improved his ball-handling, shot selection and accuracy from the perimeter.


So what can we expect from Carrick Felix?

This is what one (non-Duke) assistant coach had to say about him:

Really active. Plays hard. Great run jump bounce. Good length. Long arms. Very aggressive slasher. Can rise and dunk with little to no running start. Solid shooter but that is an area that he is working on. Seems like a really driven kid, too.

Seems like a good get Felix was the first Juco in history to commit to Duke so you know he can play.

I would assume this means Remi Barry is going to St. Johns I don't think ASU would take both and I doubt both would commit to the same school. Felix is already qualified so he's not nearly the gamble Barry is.

Don't be so sure Russ. ASU is still in on Barry and he is still planning to take his visit!

Oh I'm not sure at all I'm just assuming. Who knows but I would be surprised, with ASU already having their leading returning scorers as wings and 2 young talents like Lockett and King, add in Felix and that's a situation where 5 of their better players are similar and sort of in competition for minutes.

Barry can play several positions including power forward, which right now is a weak spot for ASU. I believe both Felix and Barry would find plenty of playing time. It is also not a certainty that Kuksiks comes back to ASU. I know he declared that he will, but he is going home and will be playing with the national team. That situation could change. If Barry comes to ASU and fills the eighth and final scholarship for this year, ASU will still have 3 scholarships for the 2011
class.

Barry will redshirt next season if he comes to ASU so PT is a mute point.
