The Suns traded their starting center and didn't bother to replace him. What does that say about the Suns organization?

That's what this is about.
From watching capologists on different shows, the Suns have sneakily set themselves up for this offseason to get under the Second Apron, and possibly even under the First Apron, will getting playable players in return. They could cut Richards, Martin, and Micic, all are non guaranteed contracts to get under the second apron, which would let them aggregate players in trades, etc. This could facilitate trades for Durant, or other players, by letting them add assets like Grayson Allen to that trade, which makes multi team trades easier. It's about flexibility this off season for the blow it up crowd.

I'm aware of these discussions about the salary cap going up and the Suns flexibility to get under the second tax apron this summer, but the goalpost keeps getting moved.

When are the Suns going to contend for a championship?

Trading for Kevin Durant was supposed to be that key move.

No matter how much we bash this front office, surely we all realize they must know, as we know, titles are NOT on the horizon for this group. My opinion is that IT was the primary decision maker on the KD trade and everyone else went along for the ride. And everyone else is now quite aware that it was huge mistake to listen to IT. So, this season, they tried to walk two paths, hope for the best from this group but prepare to move on from them when it becomes feasible.

They did take a shot by doing what they did. It's not working out. Fans screaming to change the roster. Now the Suns making moves to do just that. When can ANY team grantee contending for a championship. We have seen a lot of teams build what was hyped as a championship caliber teams, that didn't work out. It's not that easy.

The Suns chances to win a title were greatly reduced when the Suns traded for Kevin Durant, but this has been discussed ad nauseam.

I can't comment on whom the wizard is behind the curtain because I don't know.

What is tangible for me, the Suns had a chance to strengthen their weak front court before the trade deadline and didn't.

The Suns when KD and Booker play together win something like 63%, or 66% of their games. Arguably the trade works from that standpoint. It's arguably the rest of the roster to support these two that has been a train wreck.

No, it doesn't. Go back and look at the winning percentage when Booker, Mikal and CamJ were healthy that last season. Yes the rest of the roster is part of the problem but we made it almost impossible to fix the rest of the roster with that same trade.

This is true, but I don't believe in throwing Hail Mary passes when they are unnecessary.

The Suns had all their draft picks, expiring contracts and a core of some nice young players when they threw the ball up on a whim.

Man... the more I think about it the more it blows that Durant killed that deal, even with us getting Butler (and probably giving him the foolish extension the Warriors did). Those future Warrior picks are probably going to be pretty juicy and I am really surprised they were willing to send over Kuminga and picks and swaps.

Would also have been nice to have a dude with some fire in his guts. I think Butler would have rubbed off on Booker in the ways Chris Paul did.

Worst of all... I expect Durant to want out in the off season anyway, and I don't see someone being as desperate as the Warriors were come summertime.

Exactly my thoughts and I would add that Durant made a three.peat of killing the Suns regarding his transactions involved Phoenix:

Once when he found out that his next station is Phoenix and the Suns overpaid for him, second when he killed the Warriors-deal and third when he will announce next summer that he wants to be traded, wll pick his destination and will force the Suns to trade him for much less than in the GSW-deal.

I Was glad we didn't do it! Kuminga is going to be ANOTHER large contract. Imagine how much over the second apron we would be? Not that the money matters, it's just we would never be able to sign anything than vet min guys. If somehow they would take Beal and he would go there, too, the yeah, I would have hit that! I actually don't know if we could have Beals, KDs, Books, and then sign Kuminga to one of those deals, too! That's a capologist nightmare, LOL!
