I didn't pick Jones but he has a negative place in my heart.

He was one of those guys that had a mystery injury that got much much better after he left the Cardinals.

I don't think anyone knows to this day what his Cardinal injury was.
Regardless of how you feel for him, he cannot be considered a bust.

Wadsworth.....dude was billed as the second coming of Bruce Smith....and then he played us like a fiddle...raped the front office while they were under extreme fan heat.....dude never wanted to play football...never played til he was in college and saw he had ability...he got dinged up in the pros, took an inury settlement and bailed..............

the lesson learned with andre "the bust" wadsworth??

Never EVER draft a finance major in the first round

Wadsworth never, ever had a question of heart and not wanting to play (when he got that knee injury, he sucked it up and played 11 games). Dude even tried to come back much later after retirement in camp with the Jets because of his passion for the game but he had a tough injury. The guy was not Tommy (the glass) Knight with multiple injuries, he had one bad injury and three surgeries on it which never fixed it. If you count any injury as a bust, then he is but the circumstances of the injury leave it hard for me to think badly of him. One cannot ignore injuries because more than one is a flaw in the player but one can see things differently due to just one horrible injury.

Thomas Jones and Calvin Pace were not busts. They just did not work out for us.

Pace actually had a solid year in 2007, his last year with Cards, that propelled him to get an outrageous contract from Jets.

Jones had very successful stints with Bears and Jets, consistently rushing 1000+ yards. 2008/09 years were the best for him... scoring 13/14 TD's and rushing for 1400 yards (2009).

That doesnt look like an 'outrageous contract' now.

Wendell Bryant by a mile and a half. At least Wadsworth had knees that were truly shot. Bryant just got high, lazy and out of shape and wised up way too late to do anything about it.

And, Eric Hill being on this list is a joke. He was damn near the only legit player we had at times in the early 90s.

Wad only tried to come back so he could cash another check....the NFL has a history of paying guys for "potential" and Wad had all of it in the world......heck dude even held out on us right into the season because he wanted a quarterback contract....he played a little because you have to show something on the field to demonstrate the possibilities...which motivates NFL teams to pay.
Just like Reid did with Kolb.

I dont see how you can ignore injuries. Wadsworth was picked 3rd overall and was out of the league in a few short seasons. 7 of the 10 players picked immediately after him went to pro-bowls. He was a monumental bust. To say he isnt a bust is like saying Oden wasnt a bust, Sam Bowie wasnt a bust... Matt Leinart wasnt a bust. Injuries are part of the game, they matter. He couldnt stay on the field... he was a huuuuuge bust.

His biggest saving grace could be that the biggest bust of all-time was taken right in front of him.

So if Patrick Peterson blew out his knee next week and never played again would you consider him a bust because we only got one season out of him?

It would be hard to claim it was a worth while pick... but at least in Peterson's case his one year was a big one. A better question would be if Floyd got hurt, had one mediocre 50 catch year then was out of the league after a couple awful injury plagued seasons, would that make him a bust? Absolutely.

Injuries are a part of the game. They have to be factored in when talking about this stuff.

Nope, you just need to head your head out of your butt...there aren't any donuts up there. :D

Anyone that can pick a DT at #12 whom losing hardly affected this franchise over a QB as hyped as Leinart and set us into the quagmire we are in now needs their head examined.

Leinart is up there... however, Warner was still there for four years and Ken Whisenhunt had three full years to evaluate Leinart. He and the organization did not do anything about it even though Whisenhunt knew Leinart did not have it. So, we are into the quagmire because of Whiz and the organization decided not to do anything about it.

No because Peterson was productive from day one. Jones wasn't. Neither was Wadsworthless. Oh, thanks to whoever changed Wendell Davis to Bryant.

Leinarts a flop and you blame Whiz! Thats ripe! WOW! Still doesnt make him any less than the biggest flop in franchise history no matter how bassakwards the way you view it is.

He is blaming Whiz for not addressing the QB hole sooner because Leinart was a flop...

Which is fair. If cutting Leinart was even a remote possibility then they should have addressed the position in the 2010 draft.

I cant say that is on Whiz or not. You cant know if he had direction from the front office to get Matty in line and try to make him pan out.. Which is highly likely with the $$ the team invested. Matt's tantrum to the media could have opened up the FO eyes and realized he is just a lost cause. To lay that squarely at the feet of Whiz is just a little silly and completely irrelevant to the poll.

5 sacks playing the run next to Rashod Swinger plus two more sacks in the plaoff game vs Dallas is hardly worthless.

Thats all fine, and yes, his point was off topic. But I was clarifying that it did not seem to me that he was blaming Whiz for Leinarts flop but for not dealing with the situation earlier.

And I agree, thats on the coaches and the front office. But I think they seriously dropped the ball. But I think the didnt believe in Matt before his tantrum, the tantrum didnt happen until after Anderson was promoted to starting the 3rd preseason game.

I am going to stop myself there before I go off on a loooong OT that was already covered in another thread yesterday. Moral is, Anderson never should have been on the team. If they wanted competition for Matt then they should have looked for viable alternatives earlier, rather than one of the worst QB's of the last 25 years.

You can't even read? I said Whiz and the organization since I don't know whose decision it was to hang on to Leinart and not address the situation. May be too many donuts?

It is funny and completely ridiculous you blame today's QB situation on Leinart being bust five years after he was drafted when the organization could have addressed this situation.

On the other hand, you say losing a #12 pick hardly affected an organization??? Dude... anytime you blow a high first round pick, it DOES affect the organization regardless of the position since the team is primarily built with draft.
