We had no QB at the time we signed him. He looked really good when he played for the Vikings. I don't blame Keim for signing him. Look at all QB salaries around the league these days. It was a 1 year rental anywa that came to an end sooner than expected. It's not setting us back at all. If anything, it bought Rosen a bit more time to adjust to the NFL. Glennon could've done this too in retrospect, but it's not like Bradford set us back for years. Imo the real busts are the ones who cripple the franchise for years.

I had such high hopes for him....sigh.

I’m sorry... none of the white dude linebackers we have brought in to replace studs departing have really worked out . Travis Laboy is another I’d throw out there... even rob fredrickson didn’t match the production of Jamir Miller either- was a notable drop off.

Really? Skelton, Lindley, and Hall?

:eek::rolleyes::confused::D
yes. Would've got better production at about 1/10 the cost and I'm not throwing that out here just now. I ripped the Bradford signing from the get go. The biggest blunder was guaranteeing him anything. It should have been low base and incentive based.

Have to agree for the money we spent. That many millions for three games. We have had a lot of free agent busts but none of them costed that much. Bradford wins.

I remember Jose canseco signing a 1 million dollar per season deal in 88/89, and everyone dropping their jaws...

I don’t think it’s sams fault. Sam was one of the top FA QBs on the market last season; we signed him at fair market value for what he would command.

The breakdown was with the coaching scheme.

BS we fired the OC the next week - new HC doesn’t have a clue what offense we planned to run - now cards have promoted a OC with no NFL coaching experience -

Sam is gone but we still have a nest full of problems - fans still hating on Sam? not hic cups but life threatening intensive care problems. Everybody is all yahoo because our rookie QB and OC pulled a rabbit out of their hat in the 4th 1/4 against the worse team in the NFL- they sucked before that - I’m trying to keep my head and heart up - but I have not seen anything special - I haven’t seen “it” from anybody beyond CJ and Fitz.

What???? The title of the thread is "FREE AGENT BUST", so mentioning Kolb is either off topic or not knowing that we traded for him.

In my mind it’s the closest comparison regardless of the title of the thread- I think Sam is better and may always be better than Rosen - seen nothing to steer my evaluation off that road- everybody attacked Sam like a pack of wolves because Rosen was waiting for his opportunity - I think it was stupid - and I could be wrong - but with a healthy knee and 9 years experience at 30 years old, Sam can’t be blamed for the cardinals problems - dropped the offensive coordinator the next week, put in leftwich with no experience - still Rosen hasn’t thrown for 200 yards- for many reasons. Matt Leinart did much better on a similar team. So did Mcown - so chew me u and spit me out - but even a top experienced hc - may not get franchise qb potential out of Rosen, time has told some - I want him to be goat- but it ain’t in my Cards.

The team around him was so bad he had no chance. Rosen has only been marginally better. I don't blame Sam for how poor he was but maybe ive blocked it out.

why Bradford wasnt the worst:

it fixes itself in a year.

Worst would have been to sign Bradford to a Cousins like contract where the contract hamstrings your cap for multiple years.

i do think the state of Sams knee is something -- how he passed a physical and how the org seemingly signed off on it is a problem

add to that is that Bradford never won anything, or, achieved solid stat results for a season: good games, but never good seasons

so why take a injury chance on a guy where the upside is...... mediocrity?

one thing to take a chance on a guy like Peyton Manning where the upside is greatness.....

I think Bradford was the product of McCoy's offense. Because in my mind the biggest free agent busts were Dexter Jackson, Duane Starks, and Bryant McFadden.
