Anyone go to his book signing tonight? Talked to him about Amare for a second and his response was- its a shame about Amare's injuries because he had a chance to be one of the all time greats. "Sometimes its about luck."

Cool guy, seemed genuinely interested in conversation even though there were about a thousand people there.

I was surprised by what he looked like, his eyes tripped me out a little ha.

Surprised noone here went. No cool sports nerds? Really?

Either that or the Suns board has died.

Ha, was thinking of going out there, but unfortunately had prior responsibilities. I would have had him sign something entertaining, apparently he'll put almost anything in there.

I usually just browse through everything to see what other suns fans are thinking. There's about 3 other big message boards on the internet related to the Suns. Two of the other places are ten times more active. But like any other forum, this place will gain some active users when the Suns go on a win streak, or go on a losing streak. And for some reason this forum out of every other one gets real popular when the Suns lose. Maybe because the site is connected with the cardinals.

Im hoping to get this book for my birthday in December, Im not big on Simmons but this book looks excellent.

Also last year I go the Macrophenomenal Pro Basketball Almanac which I can not recommend highly enough. Its a great mix of sports, comedy, art and nerdiness.

My buddy also got me one of the art pieces which is now hanging on my wall:

Ive got the one with Leandro Barbosa, its rad and very well done. Much cooler and more beautiful than your typical sports poster/memorabilia.

Yeah the guys in front of me had some 8x10s for him to sign and they were asking him to to put...

"Keep your head up"

"If I can make it so can you"

and other cheesy inspirational lines, he was laughing at that.

Simmons loves Suns fans. Had nothing but exemplary things to say. Thinks Phoenix has become a legitimate big-league NBA town -- earned its stripes in a way the fans of the other sports haven't.

So .... once you're done reading it, can we borrow it? :)

$15 bucks on Amazon. I paid 30, but wanted to see him... Owe it to him for all the free podcasts and articles I have read of his the past 8 years.

Yep, I went to the signing too. I was shocked how many people were there.

He was really cool and his book is now #1 on the NYT Bestseller list.

The fans of other sports in Phoenix or...?

ASU and the Suns since theyve been here the longest are in my opinion the Valleys 'true' teams. There certainly closest to my heart and I think thats the case with most natives or long time residents Ive met. As much as I loved being at the parade for the D'backs in '01 I doubt it would compare to how I would feel if the Suns won a title or ASU won the National football crown.

It changes a lot but I'd say my order consistently is...

Suns, Cards, Dbacks, UofA.

Really like teh Dbacks, but I enjoy watching the games on TV way better in the background of what I am doing.

Cardinals are cool, again like watching it on TV better, but the SUNS have always been fun to watch win or lose.
