How is it that Brian Billick siting in a heated broadcasting booth can make the assessment that Lindley was clueless, but the head coach of this team, who has everything to lose can't see that we needed a spark that a backup qb could possibly provide? Especially after the Jets bench their "star" signal caller and promptly march down the field to take the lead. Sanchez is not beyond reproach, but Lindley is?? I like our coach less and less each week.

saying to change the QB is not exactly out coaching if the other guy is 10% better plus Billick would have never got Skelton's name right inorder to get him in the game LOL

I thought I remember Billick saying he would not pull Lindley and just let him play and learn. Matter of fact, I am positive of that.
He did say Lindley had no idea of what was going on but he said once he made the switch to Lindley that he needs to ride it out.

10%?!?!?! As bad as Skelton has been he's nowhere near as pasthetic as Lindley. Rag Arm Ryan made Skelton look like Drew Brees.

we must have been watching a different game. It was clear to me that Billick was saying that Lindley had no idea what was going on and that gave the cards no chance of winning the game. Skelton has a known record of coming through during the 4th quarter of a game.

You're correct, at one point he did say that Whiz was doing the right thing with Lindley but eventually he changed his tune. I don't remember exactly how he said it but it was basically that Lindley looked completely lost out there and that Whiz needed to pull him.

But then the last game Lindley looked better than Skelton did for a majority of the games and then Skelton looked better in the Packer game...they both are horrid....the percentages are so below in the negatives for both of them that is really does not matter even if I'm off by 50 :)

Lucky you. I'll spend a week or more trying to erase some of the images from today's game - a fog would have come in handy.

This is what I heard too. At a certain point I turned to my son and said I wonder if our coach hates quarterbacks? Perhaps a QB stole his bike as a kid or something.

I mean, really - look at the man's history with the position. He has screwed with the heads of each and everyone of 'em during his tenure here- even Warner, who he jerked around unmercifully until that one magical season made him bulletproof for (only) a year.

I have to say that if you set out to purposefully destroy a young man's confidence, that you could not see a better textbook example on how to acomplish this than what we witnessed today. It was brutal. The poor guy looked shell-shocked and yet our coach just let him twist slowly in the wind. It was humiliating, both for the player and for us as fans that we are forced to root for a organization that would allow something like this to occur.

For me, I have been quiet about the firing/retaining battles so far on the board. The coach had built up sufficient goodwill that I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. But no longer. Today was the proverbial straw. As far as I'm concerned - screw him and the horse he rode in on.

I understood (and supported) the reasoning about wanting to know what we had in Lindley given that Skelton had played so poorly but I think we reached a point in this game where it was clear we were going to get no more answers from Ryan. He was so far out of his element that it was doing no one any good having him out there. I'm not positive that the outcome would have been any different but Skelton should have closed out that game if for no other reason than to save that kid's sanity.

That game showed Whis' downside. He is extremely stubborn at times: see how he handled Edgerin James during the Super Bowl year when Edge got on his bad side. I think sometimes Whis lets his personal attitude toward a player (John Skelton) interfere with what is best for the team.

It didn't take a rocket scientist to know by the second half that there was no chance of Ryan Lindley leading a TD drive and that John Skelton MAY have been able to. Whis let his players down by not giving them a chance to win a football game. John Skelton does not have a future in Arizona, but while he's on the roster and gives the team a chance to win a game, Whis should put his personal feelings aside and play him IMO.

This was an embarassment of an NFL game. :moon: ND or Alabama would have walked all over either of those teams yesterday.

THe play by play guy kept asking him if the Cards should go to Skelton and he kept saying once you make the switch it's hard to go back.

They had a long debate of the implications of it. I don't think Billick would have complained if we put Skelton in but he wasn't advocating it, the play by play guy was.

This is exactly why Whiz must go. He let's personal feelings dictate what happens on the field and screw the team. How these players can still support a coach that does not give them the best chance to win is beyond me. Whiz has a track record of letting personal feelings interfere with what is best for the team. You even have to question other decisions like LSH sitting on the bench most of the time once our All Pro RB beanie wells came back and promptly flopped.

I for one never thought LSH would produce the way he did while being the starting RB however he proved me wrong yet Whiz sits him instead of making sure he gets 10-15 touches a game because LSH earned them.

Listening to Mike & Mike this AM they made a very funny statement. They said Sanchez played horribly yesterday however Lindley made Sanchez look like Joe Montana.

What implications?! You think Scud II is going to sniff a start at any time next season?!

That's the other big red flag - where was LSH?
