I think they just didn't want to go into the draft without a chain of command. Either that or he was his usual b-hole self and it finally got old.

They had a good thing going with Marone and Schwartz at DC, with perfect personnel for their 4-3 defense. Then they dumped that combo after 1 year for sideshow Rex and his 3-4 defense that didn't fit their personnel. That is why bad teams stay bad.

They didn't dump it. Whaley and Marrone got in a fistfight during the season and Marrone let it be known that he wouldn't stay if Whaley did. Biggest mistake in recent Bills history. Marrone and Schwartz are easily two of the top 5 coaches in the league on their sides of the ball. That team was about to take off. Marrone was my hope before we brought Arians in.
