Not this year.

I sadly have to agree now that I've watched the Atlanta game and compared it with the Rams game. The Cards are restructuring on offense and needed the defense to be strong to stay competitive.

But there just isn't much on the defense. The D didn't take the day off, or suffer from jet lag from a trip to the East Coast, or give up. They just aren't any good.

Haggans, Lenon, Porter and Robinson are on their last legs as football players. Tolar and DWashington and DWilliams are inexperienced and and ADub is wildly inconsistent. HOF one week normal the next.

The D is small and will continue to get pushed around and teams will double our two legit front seven stars Dockett and Campbell.

This D can only stop other teams with turnovers just like many of our defenses the past few years.

The only hope I see is that Watson gets back and DWilliams gets up to NFL speed ASAP.

100% with you on both counts.

I would guess that in your heart of hearts that most of you would have thought prior to the start of the season we were an 8-8 team. Some days you bite the bear and some days the bear bites you.

We have these guys to do the "cute" work":

Assistant Head Coach/Run Game Coordinator/Offensive Line – Russ Grimm

* Passing Game Coordinator – Mike Miller
* Quarterbacks – Chris Miller
* Running Backs – Tommie Robinson
* Wide Receivers – John McNulty
* Tight Ends – Freddie Kitchens
* Offensive Quality Control – Chad Grimm

So explain to me why every other team in the league seems to think an O coordinator is necessary, but we are an exception.

In Whiz's first year he made the calls, and then when Haley was completely immersed he took over. No doubt, one of the present staff (Mike Miller, perhaps) is being groomed for the role next season.

I Hate Whiz but agree with you on the other two. BOBCAT
:mulli::mad: :(

It is sort of hard to say Whiz needs to have an offensive coordinator after one game. The facts are we won two division titles and were within a minute of winning the Superbowl with him calling the plays. However I have no idea of how many of his calls were changed by Kurt when they lined up. I would bet Kurt changed around 50% of the called plays. Watching the Colts play last night they were saying when the OC calls plays to Peyton Manning he sometimes tells him to be quiet he knows what play to call. Manning may be the best play caller at the line I have ever seen. That no huddle offense of theirs seems really effective and if you have the right QB like a Warner or Manning it can be deadly. Our team does not have a QB even on the radar that will ever be like that. Warner was the best QB in Cards history and it may be a very long time before we ever see the likes of him again. Meantime back at the ranch we have to work with what we have. We do have some very good players on this team. All Pro caliber in fact but we are missing a lot of key ingredients. I would agree that perhaps our coach should consider at least hiring an OC but that does not help our defense which was porous at best. Let us hope that Sunday's game was some sort of aberration.

Does Graves ever have anything to say in the papers in AZ? You know this guy put this team together including the QB's. I would say he was the responsible party for us not having a backup with some real NFL experience. He seems to linger in the shadows and avoid all responsibility (if he really has some).

Saints were held to 16 pts today. I wonder what the chances of that happening this coming Sunday are???

I'd fired him on the plane ride home but I guess they will likely wait until the bye week.

It's pathetic you know the Saints Rookie RB will go for 125 and 2 TD's next week and we'll let their TE's walk all over Wilson again in coverage. It's a joke, scheme to protect your weaknesses not to expose them.

Davis should be fired after this game 0 question.

Single covering Antonio Gates with a Safeties and Linebackers. Completely insane. Totally clueless as far as gameplanning. Everyone on this board knows that Adrian Wilson isn't the greatest 1on1 cover man, Bill Davis doesn't?

Not to mention we've given up 40+ points in what; 4 out of our last 6 games?

Cmon there is more talent on this Defense than that. The players aren't blameless but the Chiefs and Seahawks both TRIPLE covered Gates and they both beat the Chargers.

We single covered him with Paris Lennon.

The whole defense looks lost. Totally pathetic.

On the bright side, we didn't have to worry too much about who was returning punts today

This is the ghost of the Clancy move on Davis you all realize that right?

Back when they wouldn't fire Clancy until nearly the end of his contract, then Davis takes over on a promotion instead of getting someone really good.

It's a cheapness thing with the FO, they make do, they will spend money, better now than ever but there's a cheapness virus in this organization.

Get some killer Coordinators for crying out loud, Fitz can feel his career slipping away, this is unconcionable to be this bad with this much talent at the talent positons.

Get a QB, get an OC and a DC and stop jacking around.

I'm not certain what is "scheme" and what is players not doing their job. But, then again, I don't have access to game preparation like so many others on this board.

How do I get one of those special passes so that I too can say without fear of contradiction: Davis sucks! ;)

I was watching one of the TV NFL shows and they were saying the Saints are having problems with there offense. I would think so after losing there former Heisman Trophy winner to a broke leg. They will surely miss him big time. Still, they look about 10 times better than we do. My guess is that Anderson will start. Not that he is any good but probably the best choice given the circumstances. At this point start him and if he is doing no good then bring in Hall or even Skelton. We are not going to win any awards this year.

I do not know if Davis sucks or not but I sure do know his results suck big time. How can you replace a DC after 4 games when a new guy does not have a chance to implement a new defense in a week or two. Perhaps someone on the staff who knows our players and schemes could replace him. I have noticed this year that many QBs are having problems and coaches are making changes. Oakland changed QBs, Big Ben is finally back, Vick is now hurt and I have no idea who the Eagles will use, we of course have our problem and there are several other teams with QB problems. Gerrard sure looked all world the other night both running and passing. Anyone could have had him at one point and now he has risen from the dead. I bet Garcia is going to be picked up by some team. Could he be any worse than Anderson? Maybe yes and maybe no. There is talk the Eagles may sign him.

No chance, not with a potential lockout looming in 2011. They'll probably wait until the end of the year.

I could scheme better than Davis is doing using only a copy of Madden 97 as my guide.

When Davis' team has just lost 41-7 and 41-10 and gave up almost 100 points in two playoff games you don't need any special pass to say without fear of contradiction that Davis sucks as the Cards DC.
