I say the Lakers will fold this year. I think if GP goes down they could be in real trouble.

Unfortunately, I think the Lakers will win it all.

The best player in the game, surrounded by the highest quality supporting cast.

For fear of the tar & feathers I certainly won't say the NJ Nuts or is that "future" NY Nuts......Best money is on the Lakers...... Speaking of the Lakers, I'll bet Phill Jackson is getting sick of trying to get Kobe & Shaq to act like professionals. Wouldn't surprise me if he calls it quits after this year.

I predict Kobe will be locked up and a distraction, Shaq's toe will act upand Malone and Payton will both have injuries some point causing this team to never geland tocollapse in the playoffs:thumbup:

It hurts to say it but I expect the Lakers to win it all this year. Yeah, they might implode but that's about the only thing that will stop them. I think they could win even missing one of their four all stars and it's not highly likely they will have to as none of them are exactly injury prone. They sure looked fine without Kobe against Dallas.

I think that the Kings window is shut and the Twolves might be the most overrated team.

It is possible that those 2 don't finish in the top 5.

Overall San Antonio, Minnesota, Sacramento don't really look like they are so much better than Phoenix or Houston.
Dallas looked really not impressive against the Lakers but I suspect that they will be a good team in the regular season and run all of the bad teams out of the building and finish high.

I've said several times that the Lakers are a lock and I'm standing by that. I owe Joe Mama $50 if I'm wrong.

Barring injuries its the Lakers year.

I think they can win it all without Kobe, provided everyone else stays healthy.

If the choices had been Lakers, Suns or another team you probabaly would have had a more accurate poll. :D

Lakers.

The NBA soft cap has set the conditions for a non-competitive environment , a la Yankees in baseball.

Remember when the commissioner negated the multi-player multi-team deal that would have brought us Dikembe Motumbo in his prime?

Where was Stern when Payton and Malone signed below market contracts?

Sports fans are always complaining and saying "Why don't guys play for less in hopes of winning a title?" Then it happens in the NBA and fans complain because it helps the Lakers. Gimme a break. If Karl and Gary were in Phoenix for less, I don't think too many on this board would be complaining. Fans aren't upset because these players took less money...they're only upset because they took less money to play for the Lakers.

Brian you know darn well that you couldn't pay us Suns fans enough to allow Malone on our team.

Exactly. I justy don't undersstand what the problem is when players choose to play for a title for less money.

Don't be stupid. It's the LAKERS fool. If it had been the Memphis Grizzlies or the Miami Heat, it wouldn't be a big deal. BUT, they took the less money to get a championship handed to them, thanks to Shaquille O'Neal. The point is, those two guys couldn't do it themselves.

Is it cool that two all-star players took less money? Yeah. Is it cool that they took less money from the Lakers? Hell no. And if you think it is, then you are cheering for the wrong team--but then again, that's probably true anyway.

They didn't take less money to get a championship _handed_ to them. Shaq didn't win one last year, so they aren't totally riding his coat tails since they do need to contribute. Yeah, they couldn't do it themselves, but noone can do that, even players like Jordan and Chamberlain.

And why would they take a pay cut to go to the Grizzlies. That would be going to a worse team, not taking less money to win a championship. It's ok that they went to a good team, it just sucks that that happens to be the Lakers. I think it would have been much more interesting this year if they went to a team like Minnesota or Detroit.

I admit it would have been cooler if they took less money to stay with Utah or Seattle, but I'm a Laker fan so I'm glad they went to L.A. :)

Unless Shaq goes down there is no way the Lakers lose a seven game series.

No one is going to stop the Lakers this year. Unless two of the starting five are hurt during the playoffs, they won't loose a 7 game series. I hate to think about it, but the only ones who can beat them are themselves.
