He was pretty bad this year, had bravado that he hadn't earned on the sideline and frequently looked lost

Reminds me a bit of Seattle and Mora Jr - kind of brought in as that coach in waiting, replacing a HOF level coach, tough taking in the press but not coming close to delivering on the field and justifiably gone after 1

Nobody wants to replace a legend, but everybody wants to replace the replacement.

Did he, really? A decision like that has to come from ownership -- or at least be highly encouraged by it.

Is Stefanski low-key bad? Cleveland has finished above third place in their division once in his tenure. He's 40-44.
Ownership signed off on it, but it was Stefanski and the GM who thought Watson would be perfect for Stefanski's offense. They were way off on that and with the draft capital they gave up, it's more than a fireable offense.
Owner was in favor it as well, as by the guaranteed contract, but that ownership, regardless of public opinion, are not super hands owners.

How often do new NFL GM's get stuck with 2nd year unsuccessful HC's?

Seems like most GM's get to pick the HC (unless they are tenured/successful).

Sometimes the HC gets enough juice inside the organization to hire his own GM. What a weird situation though. Carthon was dumb to fire Vrabel in the first place.

Jerry is too busy with his current role in Landman.
I didn't know that, but it doesn't surprise me. He has to be the most non football GM in the history of the NFL. a typical day in the office for him is promoting a fake boxing match or a fake country concert on thanksgiving. all the basic GM stuff that don't have anything to do with football.

I didn't know that was possible. In dallas the HC doesn't even get to hire their own coaching assistants. sometimes they don't even get to decide if they get to call plays. that's not a joke either, I wish it was.
