Will Art Rooney make a coaching change?
The Steelers take great pride, as they should, in the fact that they have hired only three coaches since 1969.

I think Vrabel will do well there.
I also think this puts Kliff squarely in the cross hairs of the Raiders or Saints. Just calling a hunch.
Rooney signed him to a 3-year extension. He's not going anywhere--and the Stillers will be mired in mediocrity. Will Art Rooney make a coaching change?

This organization is a complete mess.1) What a dumpster fire this organization is.
2) This is definitely a move to get a higher-quality head coach, since someone with juice might want to bring in their own guy. Vrabel seems like a good organization-builder.
Doubtful....maybe as an OC. But he doesn't just have zero NFL experience, I don't think he's even tied to a coaching tree with much or any NFL experience. Maybe I'm wrong?????i know dillingham was just extended but i wonder if anybody's contacted him for an interview
I was the Raiders and I thought I could trade for Tomlin, I would. Obviously the GM situation matters, but Tomlin would stabilize that franchise. That said, if they land Ben Johnson, that might work as well. This organization is a complete mess.
Take it from someone who knows.
That would be so JerryDeion to the Cowboys?
What a circus that would be.Deion to the Cowboys?
So why block the man from taking Bears interview last week only to not renew his contract? Cowboys are a jokeAdam Schefter

Mike McCarthy is not expected to return to Dallas and is now set to become a free agent, per source. The two sides engaged in no discussions about a new deal, and McCarthy is expected to be a candidate in Chicago and New Orleans.
Tomlin is basically Reid in Philly. Stale, spinning his wheels, and going nowhere. He needs a change in scenery or to change his ways. The latter is not happening. Not sure why people hate on McCarthy and Tomlin. They have two of the top of winning %'s and playoff appearances over the past 15-20 years.
Seems a lot like what people said about Andy Reid in Philly.
McCarthy and Tomlin both have something already that Andy never got in Philly....a Super bowl trophy. Not sure why people hate on McCarthy and Tomlin. They have two of the top of winning %'s and playoff appearances over the past 15-20 years.
Same thing people said about Andy Reid in Philly.
On the radio the other day they had the commentators talking about how good Tomlin really is. Andy Reed has a very lengthy coaching tree Of coaches plucked from him to be head coaches and coordinators elsewhere. Mike Tomlin doesn’t have much of a coaching tree whatsoever. Why is that? Especially for as long as he’s been a coach?(almost 2 decades) Not sure they’re the “same”Tomlin is basically Reid in Philly. Stale, spinning his wheels, and going nowhere. He needs a change in scenery or to change his ways. The latter is not happening.
that's what I'm wondering. Jerry also allowed for other candidates like Vrabel to come off the board. apparently they never really had any solid talks about another contract. my guess is that Mike asked for more leverage in management decisions and Jerry said no and that was a drawback for both.So why block the man from taking Bears interview last week only to not renew his contract? Jerry won't do that because Deion would get more attention than he does. Jason Witten is another who has been coaching High School football and wouldn't be surprised to see him coaching in the NFL if he wants to. If he goes that route Deion/Witten, I would like to see him give Troy Aikman the GM job. but that will never happen because Jerry knows Troy won't let him micromanage the organization. What a circus that would be.
Don't think it will happen but it would be like watching a train wreck.
And jurrah blocked the interview because it gave him leverage in forcing Mccarthy to work for the same pay.that's what I'm wondering. great point. and you are right about jerry being a cheap skate. they don't try to go after free agents anymore like they used to. I think that is a Stephen Jones influence which foreshadows how things will run when Jerry is dead. I think Jerry also made a comment after the last game that he wants a coach that wants to be here. it was a weird statement to make, but he probably got word that Mike was interested in leaving or that other teams would hire him if Jerry didn't pay him.And jurrah blocked the interview because it gave him leverage in forcing Mccarthy to work for the same pay.
Much to jurrahs dismay the jobs didn't dry up before the contract expired.
poo cracks me up. Jones used to be known for throwing big money at everything and everybody he wanted...and suddenly the past few years he is a tightass on par with a Bidwill...
Yeah I don't think Tomlin or the Steelers are making any changes. He probably doesn't leave until he decides to retire. and the steelers will be what they are. Finding a good QB might help them as well.Tomlin is basically Reid in Philly. Stale, spinning his wheels, and going nowhere. He needs a change in scenery or to change his ways. The latter is not happening.
I was talking situations, not nuts and bolts. What you outlined is a major issue the local pundits here have talked about for years. Consensus is he is too arrogant and must be the big brain and not be challenged by his subordinates. Add in an owner that is too scared to upset the apple cart, and it's a recipe for...well, for what we've seen out of a team with the highest paid defensive roster and a top-end product of absolute mediocrity. On the radio the other day they had the commentators talking about how good Tomlin really is.
