I was wondering if anybody knows definitavely whether the game will be blacked out in Tucson if it is not a sellout.

It has been indicated to me by management that I can take a "long lunch" to watch the game, but that I will be fired if I call in sick on Saturday to go to the game (as I have pulled this stunt before for various games)

I would rather be fired than not get to watch this game (on TV or in person). Any help would be greatly appreciated as I will be buying tickets at 2:30 and brushing up my resume if the game is blacked out in T-Town

This one's on the players.

Not showing up for the last month has cost them much of the goodwill that they had built up with the fans over the first 3 months of the season.

This one is on the fans. I get sick of people who are so spineless. "Ooooh, I'm afraid we'll lose. That would make me a loser too." Sack up, Phoenix! Jeez, "fairweather fans" would actually be a step up for most of these people around here.

In previous years, when there is a blackout for a Cards game it blacks out Tucson as well. It really is ridiculous.

Got no answer at KVOA (local NBC affiliate). Does anybody no definitively if we are still in the blackout zone?

Does anyone know if there is any way to get the game online (like justin.tv)

I cannot believe this

I was about post about the Blackout deadline extension, but I see Jim O beat me to it. I'm not sure what impact this will have on your decision tho.

Timm,

If I recall correctly, Tucson is included in the blackout zone. I know this because with the Sunday NFL Ticket, they give you a list of cities/zip codes that are blacked out when a game is not sold out. Tucson was on this list.

Wow... I'm a pretty die hard fan but would not do something like this for just one game especially in this economy. Don't you have internet access? There usually is some stream although the quality is not that great but serves the purpose.

LOL Timm.

Honestly, You need to fake it better. lol

Are you on any type of written or final written warnings? Is this a small mom and pop type company or a corporation like Alltel or GE or something?

I would have started feeling sick last week and then get really dramatic about it this week. Maybe even go to a doctors office tomorrow and get a doctor's note for the weekend. Even tell the bosses how you were in bed all through New Years eve and how it ruined the holiday for you.

Obviously if this is a mom and pop place then that won't fly, but HR departments have issues with firing someone with no "paperwork" to substantiate it.

Small business with no HR department. Just bosses. I called in sick for 3 U of A football games this year and I am not exactly that well liked. They are not messing around. If it's blacked out I will be driving up Saturday Morning and my friend from Glendale who will be driving me to and from the game.

I have been waiting for this for 10 years and don't like my job that much anyway

TR, I feel you on needing to see the game, but The Cards aren't paying your bills man. My cousin has the same dilemna on Sunday with the eagles, he has to work, and is not calling out even though he is Joe eagle. He just can't. But hey, I respect your gangsta! :D

HEre's what you do:

Jump off the roof of your car, or truck, and make sure you give your ankle a good turn.

or...

call up all your friends of the female persuasion, surely one or two them have got to be sick this time of year. Pick the best looking one and french kiss the hell out of them for a couple of hours. By Saturday, you'll be sicker than a dog.

In either case, you'll have reason to call in sick.

I would get a set of headphones and listen to the game at work. This is not the time to be looking for a job...

Well there the problem right there, you traded those games for a real game. I mean it wasn't like it was ASU...:D

I am pretty sure the blackout only applies within 75 miles from the stadium. Tucson is 130 miles away. I think you should be safe. Could be wrong though

I get the feeling the same 40k cards fans show up but the rest are fans of the opposition. Atlanta must not be popular in AZ.

We Did It!!!!

I had a ticket picked on ticketmaster (a lower level one at the 10 yard line that clearly was returned by the Falcons) and was ready to have it waiting at Will Call. But now I can just watch it on my Samsung on my lunch break.

And Minnesota didn't get it sold out Anybody who calls out Card Fans for struggling to get this game sold out need a knuckle sandwich.

minnies are used to a little more success than we are their spoiled but in the end we got it done so its really a moot point

i haven't been fortunate enough to make it back to arizona to see game in the new stadium but the days i spent at sweat devil i was surrounded by the most hardcore fans in the nfl you had to have a pair to watch a game in that excuse for a stadium
