Not sure where he is starting, but if he's projected anywhere outside the early to mid 2nd round, I would agree that we'll likely see him move up in the offseason... He probably will move into the first round if he's not there already...

Per ESPN "Various early draft predictions have rated Gabbert as a first-round pick and the second-best at his position behind Andrew Luck of Stanford." If that is true and Mallett and Cam are considered R1 picks why would it surprise you that he might go top 10?

He's not a season one savior.

He still is probably the best QB in the draft after Luck, long term I would rate him higher IMO, because he's more of a pocket passer type.

The bizzaro thing is he's come up through the spread offense, so that hurts him, right up until the scouts work him out, then he's gone really high in the draft.

I bet top 10 is what he was told to declare.

I have mixed feelings, I want him to land where things workout for him, landing on the Cardinals is like welcome to hades.

Gary Pinkel knows a few NFL QB's when he sees one, he would of had no problem telling the kid what he thought, I bet he told him to go for it, JMO.

He's also got a guy who's a STUD as a spread QB in the wings, GP knows BG isn't a true spread QB, different animal altogether but he is a good kid and I wish the best for him, "unless the Cowboys draft him", in which case I will hate him with infinite fury the instant his name is read on the card.


P.S.

Perhaps if we decide we have any interest in him at all, him and CKW can have a sleepover or hangout or something?

Just want to make sure they're good with each other before we waste any time on a new QB, which I highly doubt we'll ever draft.

Guys like CKW hate rookie QB's with a burning passion, I can't see him taking one to be honest.

As I stated previously, he will have a great combine(if invited)and school workout. He will go top 10 but I doubt to the Cardinals. Wish he was back in school but if he is a top pick he has to come out. Good luck to him.

I don't think so. CArolina just spent a high pick on QB, and unless it's Luck, I don't think they go QB in the first. Anyways, I'm not sure I see Gabbert leapfrogging Newton.

I have seen both qb play & Gabbert imo is the better of the 2. Newton is a running qb more than a passing qb. He was able to pass the ball because teams were trying to stop him from running the ball. Just like old school football get the running game going and the passing game will be easy.

Gabbert passed the Ball more than he ran with it. He has better accuracy and reads the defense better than Newton.

All im saying is that Newton has run a division 1 offense for 1 year. In that one year, how many times was he even under center? How many times did he need to read through his progressions to find someone, instead of going deep, checking down, or taking off and running?

Im not saying Newton will be better than Gabbert, or that either will be good NFL QBs. However, the same system type questions people have about Gilbert, should be under even more scrutiny in Newton's case.

I agree but the athleticism of Newton weighs in his favor. Both these guys are projects.
