Blame the defense but the offense stunk it up.

In a van...down by the river.
That's the same lame excuse that is always thrown out to defend a teams' defense. However, for some reason that doesn't seem to bother teams like Baltimore or Pittsburgh. If the D doesn't want to be on the field all day get the other teams' offense off of it.

The Cards defense was blowing leads the last two years while playing with one of the most prolific offenses ever. So that argument just won't wash.
Fair enough, but i doubt that those Baltimore or Pittsburgh teams were regularly getting washed out in the T.O.P. statistic. If i'm not mistaken AZ is dead last in this category.
I guess you could play the defense needs to get of the field angle too,but 3 n outs are more detrimental IMO.

Sure they are but they are beneficial as well when your defense causes them. A real defense comes on the field after the offense has turned the ball over on their 12 yard line and 3 plays later the other team is attempting a FG from 40 yards.

Defense is the macho part of football. Nobody, especially the guys that make up the majority of football fans, wants to admit their team isn't macho so no matter the circumstances its always the offenses fault the defense sucks.

3 for 13 on 3rd down conversions is pathetic. One play that I've been mulling over since the game ended is the pass that Hightower dropped on third and long when they were pinned back with around 5 minutes left. I don't know if he gets the first down, probably not, but the clock would have run or a TO called, so we're talking 30 seconds gone or so. Little things...

Can't remember exactly when but towards the end DD went down and injury timeout kept another 35 sec on the clock also...little things

You can blame the offense all you want but this has been a every week spectacle now. The run defense has improved but the pass defense is still the same pile of garbage it was in week 1.

I was only able to listen to the radio play-by-play today,so based on that and looking at the box score....
I don't see how the defense takes the heat today.
Your offense mustered up only 10 points. You lost the time of possession(again) 38:05 to 27:13
Thats awful. ^

You cant have your defense stay on the field ALL DAY LONG and then expect them to preserve a lead and make a play to win it for you every week. Unrealistic.
Ya'll know its the offense thats losing you games. It sounded to me like the AZ "D" played its butts off today and was just gassed as the game wore on.....including the OT.

Just sayin....from another p.o.v.

It was all the timing mojo. Defense played well early, made some big plays, and held up in the redzone. Then at the end when we needed one stop to win, they folded. Maybe they were exhausted but the timing of it was horrible.

Football is such a what if game, if Rhodes had fallen down when he stumbled and lost his footing cutting back on that INT, we get at least a FG out of that and possibly a TD. But he keeps his feet and Camarillo catches him from the right side and knocks the ball out. Then by sheer bad luck the ball bounced out of the endzone, we had 3 guys there to recover it if it had done anything but go straight forward like that.

It's hard to complain with all the defensive TD's this year but again when we needed them to slam the door, they couldn't.
