Hey, did anyone else catch the end of the Blazers-Kings game tonight? I only saw the end of the game and I thought the Kings got screwed. The Kings were down 111-110 in overtime. Blazers had the ball and Rasheed Wallace set a moving screen and got the foul called on him with under a minute to go. He chased the official all the way down the court and yelled at him the whole time. The ref refused to call him for a technical because Wallace already had a technical and would have been out of the game (although they had fouled out both Brad Miller & Divac from SAC). The Kings still had two chances to win but they couldn't convert.

I think it's ridiculous to not call a blatant technical foul because the refs don't want to decide the game (although by not calling it they could be deciding the game as well). If they call that technical then Sacramento could have tied it with a free throw and then taken the last shot and possibly won or it would have gone into doube OT.

I didn't see the game, but in general I think this is an excellent point. Officials' decisions influence the game whether they decide to call something or not. Something that's a foul at the beginning of the game should be a foul at the end of the game too. How can the players defend intelligently, if they have no idea what's going to be called and what isn't?

jbeecham,

That wasn't the only time Wallace really should have been thrown out of that game. He was bitching about virtually every call or noncall in the fourth quarter. Wallace really is a nutcase. I didn't see anything done by the officials that merited that kind of reactions they were getting from him.

The official is probably afraid Wallace will be waiting for him at his car if he throws him out.

By the same token, if the Kings dont pittle away a 20 point first half lead they never get in that situation in the first place.

I only say that cause I went to bed at 11pm EST with Sac up HUGE on the Blazers, and was like pfffffft. Screw this game...
