I understand how you feel, but that was a block to the shoulder. There was a similar block made by AZ on that great kick return you guys had.
Not even close to the same. That was a clear clipping call. But too late to worry about it now...

This is just salt in the wound. I wish I never seen this non-call on such a huge game changing play.

Ugh, I keep thinking about that play and getting angry.. I wonder how long it will take to get over it. I don't get people who say it was the shoulder at all.

Even if you say his right hand is the shoulder (which yes, it appears to be forearm to the back) what about his left?

UGH

Ditto.

I'm sorry but even at that speed that is an easy call.

What's interesting is that I bet the refs normally look for a guy landing on his face as "evidence". Hightower actually does an incredibly athletic flip in the air to land on his back, even though he was pushed in the back. May have actually influenced the non-call. It was either that or blindness....

If you can stomach watching it, here's NFL's Anatomy of a Play, breaking down the pic and return. http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80e97cd9 . Cosell actually points to that particular block and commends it. Because they are using league cameras for these, you can get much different angles and views. One thing I noticed was that the ref was 12 yards downfield at the time of the block, and at the exact timing of the block, was focused on getting around two Steelers on the ground. He couldn't have seen the block to make a decision one way or the other.

Al Michaels and John Madden both missed it too interestingly IIRC. :(

Does it matter?! A block in the back is clipping. They don't seem to call that anymore.

Seriously, how many clipping calls can you remember from our games this year?

This year? About 10 through the first 12 games!

Sure, OK.

We redo the game and you can have the block in the back on the punt and we will take the block in the back on that return.

Whatever. None of this would have mattered if: A. We tried to run it in on 2nd down, or B. Warner just THREW IT AWAY......ugh, you live by Warner and you can die by him too.
