Blue Mountain breezes through annual softball tournament

ORWIGSBURG — Blue Mountain welcomed Minersville and Brandywine Heights to their home field Saturday for the annual Blue Mountain Softball Tournament.

Game one saw Minersville defeated Brandywine Heights, 13-3, before Blue Mountain crushed Brandywine Heights, 16-1, and the finale was a Blue Mountain 9-0 shutout of Minersville.

Minersville 13, Brandywine Heights 3

Isabella Rizzardi had four hits and drove in four runs for Minersville when they easily got past Brandywine Heights with a 10-run differential in five innings in the opener of the tournament.

Cali Laudeman got the win for the Battlin’ Miners while working five innings and allowing three run while striking out six.

Rilynn Brennan, Eila O’Brien and Isabella Cruz each had two hits for Minersville at the plate.

Avery Hudock, Emmerson Frie, Karley Koch, Aryana Reilly, Emily Leonard, Callie Peel and McKenna Manbeck all each drove in two runs when Blue Mountain mercy-ruled Brandywine Heights in the second game of the Blue Mountain softball tournament.

The Eagles scored 11 runs in the first inning before posting five more runs across the next two innings.

Leonard earned the win for the Eagles, working three innings allowing one run on five hits with two strikeouts.

Addyson Fishburn, Frie, Reilly and Leonard each multi-hit games for Blue Mountain.

Aryanna Reilly drove in three runs and Chloe Brown went the entire seven innings while striking 11 Battlin’ Miners to give Blue Mountain their second win of the tournament.

Blue Mountain brought three runs to home plate in the first inning and six more runs home across the sixth and seventh innings.

Carla Boyer drove in two runs for the Eagles while Karley Koch had three hits and Reilly went for two hits.
