Saw this last night with Mrs. AZ.
This is one of those movies with 7 or so mini stories taking place that all come together in the end. The focus isn't on Bobby Kennedy, but on the lives of the others who come together on the night of the assasination. Excellent performances turned in by a lot of these subplayers, including Harry Belafonte's old guy hanging out at the hotel, Demi Moore as a drunk singer, Lindsay Lohan as a young girl marrying a guy (same actor who played Froto(?) in Lord of the Rings) to keep him from going to Vietnam, etc. etc. Ashon Kr(?), Mr. Demi Moore, plays a drug dealer who provides LSD to two campaign workers, which provides a lot of laughs.
I tend to be biased in favor of these movies that give us a good glimpse of what was going on in history. 1968 was one of the most tumultuos yet facinating years in our history. So there was much footage of the crazy things that were happening in that year that was very interesting. You get to see footage of the Watts riots, clashes with national gaurd on campuses, Dr. King's assasination, bombing in Vietnam, etc.
But what stole the show for me was the actual footage of Bobby Kennedy making his speeches and talking to people that was worked into the film. It always blows me away to watch this guy in a campaign for the presidency to be espousing hope, peace, national reconciliation, non-violence, justice. He had the message that was right for the time, which is still very timely for the issues facing us today.
So even though it ended on a very somber note, this was a good movie with a lot of great performances that I really enjoyed.
