For the ubiquitous Rosenhaus, the extension marked a second straight day on which he finished a contract for a player who still had two seasons remaining. On Saturday, he consummated a three-year extension for New Orleans cornerback Mike McKenzie, on a deal whose value totaled $22 million.

It is believed that Boldin's extension is the first negotiated for a player who had two years left on his original rookie contract since Rosenhaus fashioned a landmark deal for Clinton Portis. The Redskins signed the tailback to a blockbuster contract after acquiring him in a trade with the Denver Broncos, and despite the fact his contract had two years to run.

Let's hear from the: "Drew Rosenhaus is a greedy scumbag and will prove the death of the NFL as we know it" crowd - or the equally silly - "The owners will collude against Rosenhaus" clients." :D

this is great news (almost takes away the sting of the Suns and the JJ deal.. ugh)

I'm in the market for a new Cards Jersey and I was debating who I should get. I think this will push me to get Boldin. I love this guy.

That is a very fair deal and came in much lower $-wise than I thought it would take.

I'm glad for Q and the Cards on this one. But now I worry about next year with Dockett and Dansby maybe wanting new deals.

A win win

A real feather in Rosenhaus' hat. I suspect this deal was in hand for some time, and the Cardinals agreed to the delay and/or left the offer on the table for Drew's benefit. This puts pressure on Green Bay to step up to the table and do something for Javon Walker, specially with him reporting to camp.

Congrats to Rod Graves, Denny Green, and especially to the Cardinals negotiating team. No wonder Denny looked so happy on Sports Center today. He has his best player signed thru 2010.

The train is leaving Antrel, jump on board!!

Hmmm, wouldn't Boldins extention be the first negotiated for a player who had two years left on his original rookie contract since yesterday.

Not sure, but- perhaps MacKenzie's new deal was not an extension of his rookie deal...

No, the extension on McKenzie's contract was not a rookie deal. It was a renegotiated contract that was signed after his rookie deal.

Totally Red is on the money as is the poster who noted how similar this was to earlier reports. Anyone hear of Rosenhaus there in AZ frantically negotiating?

This was a done deal long ago and the Cards agreed to delay the signing announcement as part of the deal. Still it's good to have in on the books.

This is great news. And by the sounds of things a good deal for both sides.

Now, hopefully we can have our recievers heathly and ready for the season. No more broken feet, blown out knees or high ankle sprains please!

I wonder what Rosenhouse gets out of this? Is this a big payday for him?

I think its great for both sides. 22 million over six years.

The cards didn't have to get quan that big 5 million bonus, but they gave it up because it was the smart thing to do. You want quan on your team through 2010.

At the same time, we didn't break the bank.

Quan is a special player. Tough as nails, a firey competitor. Fearless, and goes through arm tackles like they were nothing.

However, on a great team, like the maybe the patriots or eagles, he's a very good player. Maybe a probowler. Maybe not.

But don't flame me guys. Quan rocks, and we need him to make a run at the big prize. This is a big big deal.

The only thing that will make it better is if we bring back the greatest 3rd string QB of all time, Preston Parsons. :D ;) :stupid:
