"Wide receiver ANQUAN BOLDIN of the Arizona Cardinals and cornerback RASHEAN MATHIS of the Jacksonville Jaguars are the NFL Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Month for November, the NFL announced today.
Boldin, a second-round draft choice (No. 54 overall) from Florida State, continued his standout season in the month of November, totaling 28 receptions for 411 yards and four touchdowns in five games, adding two 100-yard receiving games and rushing for 34 yards.
Boldin leads NFL rookies with 70 receptions for 1,032 yards and is challenging NFL rookie records for receptions (TERRY GLENN, 90, 1996) and receiving yards (BILL GROMAN, 1,473, 1960). Last week against the Chicago Bears, his 33 receiving yards put him over 1,000 for the season, becoming only the 13th rookie in NFL history to accomplish the feat.
“Anquan Boldin is a special, special player,” says Cardinals head coach DAVE MC GINNIS. “He has been absolutely fabulous and he will only get better.”
Boldin began the month with a solid performance in the Cardinals 17-14 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, posting six receptions for 51 yards, including a seven-yard third-quarter touchdown catch that provided the decisive points in the victory over the current AFC North co-leaders.
The Pahokee, Florida native followed that up with an eight-catch, 118-yard, one-touchdown effort against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Then on November 16, Boldin had four catches for 86 yards against the Cleveland Browns, including a 51-yard grab, his fifth 40+ yard reception of the season, tying him for second-most in the NFL.
Boldin’s second 100-yard effort of the month came in a 30-27 overtime loss to the St. Louis Rams, when he finished with six receptions for 123 yards, including touchdown catches of 54 and three yards.
“I think Anquan will be a great wide receiver,” said Cardinals running back EMMITT SMITH. “He continues to work at trying to get better. The more he starts recognizing how teams are trying to defend him, the better he is going to get.” "
