Purely damage control from Boldin's camp. Of course he would sign a Fitz-level deal to stay in Arizona.

Sign 'em up! And Warner, and the Smiths, and make a trade for Suggs.

Schefter is a pretty good source, though, right?

It seems like a positive step. :fingerscrossed:

He might get 70% of what Fitz got.

That is the key dreamcastrocks. He will not get Fitz money, but would he concider less, that is the question?

I don't think it gets done for less than 8M. per JMHO. Something like 40M for 5 yrs. w/ bonus$$$. Although that should be highly negotiable (the bonus). Anyway that's alot of loot. I'm torn.

I think its Drew who keeps this thing roling. I wouldnt be surprised if it was Drew telling Boldin to keep negotiating. Drew knows the Cards are stubborn and Drew knows Drews best chance to get a commission is to get Boldin to keep listening to Cards offers instead of waiting two years. It was Boldin that Told Jurecki directly the day before the pro bowl that he was going to tell Drew to tell the Cards he wont except any offers, that was Boldins idea not Drews.

Are long term deals really going to be offered going into an uncapped year? Or, maybe a better way to look at it is are they going to be accepted? There's just so much bad timing in this by Boldin.

Maybe Boldin/Drew realized the market isn't is great as they thought and Boldin's best deal is probably with AZ.

It's his job - negotiating. Never close the doors to negotiating and he probably knows Q is a stubborn type.

Maybe Q realized that he's already talked himself into a corner:

1. "I will play out the rest of my contract if I have to..."

2. "But I won't accept any new contract offers from the Cardinals"...

3. "It's not about the money, it's about the principle."

What then was to stop the Cardinals from just having him play out his current deal? The players still like Q. He wasn't that much of a distraction whilebeing disgruntled last year...save bolting the NFC Championship celebration...which his teammates didn't reall care that much about anyway.

If his contract demands are unrealistic, then this is just another posturing ploy in order to demand a trade and feel justified for it.

I'm still concerned about having that much salary at one position. However, how often can you actually have two franchise WRs on the same team? Look at what Detroit tried to do.

The Cards are going to have spend the money somewhere. It looks like the free agent crop is going to minimal,at best , talentwise. May as well reward your own if that's the case.

The Colts had a nice run with Harrison and Wayne (and a first round pick in Gonazales)

If Boldin does really want to stay, I'd love to have him stay. I would give him at most 70% of Fitz's contract tho. This might help Warner's decision to stay as well. Things are starting to look positive again! :)

Or...

What if Drew-Q know that their best chance to secure a long-term deal with a team other than the Cards is to first receive a long-term offer from the Cards? They get this offer, turn it down of course since Q really has no desire to remain a Cardinal - remember, his feelings were hurt because the Cards "lied" to him, then demand the trade. Perhaps he gets lucky and the Cards find a team out there willing to offer something the Cards find attractive for Q. Q now goes to that team and immediately demands a long-term deal, using the long-term deal offered by the Cards as leverage...

We'll see...
