I think its Drew who keeps this thing roling. I wouldnt be surprised if it was Drew telling Boldin to keep negotiating. Drew knows the Cards are stubborn and Drew knows Drews best chance to get a commission is to get Boldin to keep listening to Cards offers instead of waiting two years. It was Boldin that Told Jurecki directly the day before the pro bowl that he was going to tell Drew to tell the Cards he wont except any offers, that was Boldins idea not Drews.

If true, this likely means that Rosenhaus thinks he can get a deal done this offseason with Rod Graves, while also knowing that he'd be hard-pressed to find another NFL franchise willing to cough up multiple draft choices including a first, plus a big contract.

Reality is that Q was a respected leader for this team until last season. Pay the man and let's get ready for the draft.

Nice I hope we resign Boldin to a long term deal as long as he really want's to play here and doesn't become a locker room problem. Having breaston, fitz, and boldin signed up long term would be huge :).

Even after last season. I don't think he's lost much respect for his recent actions. I think other players on the team understand where he was coming from.

The Colts had a nice run with Harrison and Wayne (and a first round pick in Gonazales)

Hugely back loaded deals and and Harrisons total amount wasnt that big. Harrison is now only starting to be a burded in the last year of his deal showing just how back loaded it was.

And just because Gonzo was a 1st rounder doesnt mean he is getting paid. Example he was taken a a draft spot much lower then DRC was last year and DRC is only making 16 mill over 6 years.

I'm still concerned about having that much salary at one position. However, how often can you actually have two franchise WRs on the same team? Look at what Detroit tried to do.

I'm not. Look at what the Steelers did with Swann and Stallworth. The Colts had a hell of a run with Wayne and Harrison.

The salary cap is already 123 mil for next season and it's going to go up to 130 or so by the end of the month. If he signs a deal that averages around 8 per season, his new contract would be absorbed within that increase alone.

I wonder if Warner and Fitz had an impact on this apparent change of mind by telling him they want him back? Not to mention, we just went to the damn Super Bowl!

So? They still had two #1 type WRs. The point is, if you want to be special at one position there are ways to do it. And, IMO, the Cards don't even have to backload IF they trust themselves enough to continue to draft as well, and sign unheralded free agents, as well as they have the past couple of years.

I think, and I said I think LOL, that the Cardinal FO will make him an offer he can't refuse and it won't be as much as Fitz but far than enough to satisfy Q to what he is getting now. The way the team said they had no intention of trading or letting him go at the beginning of the season and then after the season said he was in their plans says to me is will be brought back.

I hope so, my Early Doucet fan club really is too early to start just yet ;)

Or...

What if Drew-Q know that their best chance to secure a long-term deal with a team other than the Cards is to first receive a long-term offer from the Cards? They get this offer, turn it down of course since Q really has no desire to remain a Cardinal - remember, his feelings were hurt because the Cards "lied" to him, then demand the trade. Perhaps he gets lucky and the Cards find a team out there willing to offer something the Cards find attractive for Q. Q now goes to that team and immediately demands a long-term deal, using the long-term deal offered by the Cards as leverage...

We'll see...

All this may be true but, this could all back-fire in Drew's face too. Just because we trade him doesn't mean he gets a new contract. Whoever traded for him could also play the wait and see game. He does have 2 years left on a contract that has a very favorable cap number.

Those radio guys are saying that Q gave the Cards a deadline for this Tuesday to make him an offer. He wants to see how serious mgmt. is about re-signing him.

That's only 4 days away!

LMAO. Boldin is too much. A deadline of Tuesday? Does he need to plan his offseason locker room cancer, drag the front office through the mud, or sign a new deal and talk about how he loves AZ backpedal plan just in case? I would sign Breaston to a long term deal on Tuesday just to piss off Boldin. Waaaaaay too much attention being paid to this guy. If that is true I doubt that Graves and Co will put the offseason on hold for the deadline.

Deadline in February. Boldin does know he has no leverage right?

Just heard that. This is getting hilarious. Why is he saying all of these stupid things. Just tell the media you are willing to do something, end of story. Dont put this info out there to make you look like a shmuck.

Completely calculated move on his part. Now he can say, "see I gave them a shot" all the while he knows damn well the Cards cant conceivably do anything this week or next week. It was a completely empty offer. He knows this becuase he knows they are to busy with Warner, Dansby, the combine, and the start of free agency next week. Boldins offer was a completely empty, and I for one am now seeing it for what it was worth, just a way to smooth over public reaction and to try and make the team look bad.

ROFL. You can hear him whining already when the 'deadline' passes. What a tool.

If it's true (and it might not be), and I'm Graves, I tell him to shove his deadline and he won't get a whiff of an offer until he and his agent decide to negotiate for real. What childish antics, demanding something on a short deadline.

With Oakland signing there receiver today for $45 mil for three years that is likely to kill any hopes of us keeping Boldin. That is enormous! Even the owners are angry.

I have no doubt its true. Jurecki said that its a direct quote from Boldin to him. People may not like Jurecki but he isnt going to through a sources name out there without it being true. Maybe when he doesnt give the sources name but when he gives the sources name it will be 100% correct. He isnt going to get in trouble by quoting a player incorrectly.

Then tell him to shut up and play out his contract. Doesn't like it? Oh well, we tried to hold out the olive branch, and he slapped it away. Wants to cry and hold out? Okay, your contract is too low to hurt our cap and we can win without you. Go two years without getting paid and, by the way, without accruing any service so you STILL owe us two years. Boldin is in a no-win situation, and he's making it harder on himself.
