Cardinals second-year wide receiver Anquan Boldin, who suffered a knee injury before morning practice on Tuesday, is scheduled to undergo surgery in Phoenix to repair a slight meniscal tear in his right knee and is expected to miss two weeks, according to coach Dennis Green.

Boldin is not expected to return to Flagstaff until next week.

This is good news.......he'll benefit from a two week rest and I don't think losing camp time will hurt him too much.

Thank God it's just a meniscus! Doctor will scope him, fix the cartilage and clean up any loose bodies that might be hiding in there. If what Sommers is saying is true, and it's only cartilage injury, he should be ready for opening day for sure.

I feel better now, I can now continue my day.

At least now we'll get a good look at McAddley, Kasper, Poole, and the other fellas.

I agree that Boldin should be held out of the pre-season games, maybe play in the last one.

You think he'll play in any of the preseason games? Maybe the Raider game?

If I were coach, I wouldnt put him in. That last pre-season game is an early one -- like Thursday or Friday -- and, typically your first team plays only one snap anyway.

Let him get totally 100% and be ready for the Rams on turf

Good news; He doesn't need to play in any preseason games just needs to get his knee mended and rested for the season.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) -- Arizona wide receiver Anquan Boldin, last season's offensive rookie of the year, underwent arthroscopic surgery Wednesday after tests found torn cartilage in his right knee.

Coach Dennis Green called the injury "a slight tear" and said Boldin should be able to return within weeks, suggesting he would be ready for the regular-season opener at St. Louis on Sept. 12. The Cardinals start their exhibition schedule Saturday at Minnesota.

"Very relieved," Green said. "I think Anquan is one of the top receivers in the game. He was a Pro Bowl player last year and a great competitor. Just not having him out here yesterday and today has made a difference in our football team, but we'll be happy when he gets back and we don't anticipate that being very far away."

Another wide receiver, Bryant Johnson, had a boot removed which he wore for more than a month to protect the stress fracture in his right foot. Last year's first-round draft pick planned to return soon.

"As big a competitor as Anquan is, it's frustrating to him," quarterback Josh McCown said. "But he's ready to figure out what he needs to do to get back right and get going, so we'll be fine."

Boldin missed his junior year at Florida State because of reconstructive surgery on a tendon in his left knee.

This time, his knee was sore Monday and he sat out the always intense morning practice. On Tuesday, he was warming up for practice when his knee locked up. Boldin, whose 101 catches last year set an NFL rookie record, was carted from the field.

ESPN is reporting basically the same news - looks like a direct lift of Reisner's AP piece.

I remain a bit reticent about jumping for joy prematurely when it concerns a knee. I'll feel a lot better when I once again see Anquan leaping tall buildings at a single bound.

The news does sound pretty positive, though.
