Are you kidding me? So the team should take a low second round pick for a guy they have under contract for two more years? If he doesn't want to play or "can't go" come start of season, then oh well, why give into the player in this situation? Do you want all the other players to follow suit?

I would rather the team handle it as they are, showing the no one player is greater than the team and if they aren't going to be happy in a 5/6 year contract, then maybe they shouldn't sign it. That seems to be working out for Dansby just fine.

To me Dansby and Wilson are both handling the situation correctly. They both obviously think they are worth more than what the team has on the table but are not biting at what is on the table just for a quick payday. They are forcing the owner's hand and in Dansby's case, seems to have won that battle, I am sure that a deal last year with 20M gauranteed would have been real close to getting a deal done, now the team has zero leverage and Dansby is STILL going to get a huge payday. Dansby even said he welcomed the franchise tag last year. Wilson is going to do the same thing, if he thinks he is worth more then he isnt' going to sign.

So instead of bashing the team for not handling the situation correctly, maybe you should blame the player for being greedy. Otherwise we might as well trade DD as well, right? Maybe he will fetch a low second next year as well.

This is going to get ugly and it is time for the FO to close this out so all can move on. For the most part the FO has problems finalizing contracts beyond ones that are rookie slotted or questionable veteran deals.

Q obviously thinks he is worth much more than the market value the Cardinals stated were reflected by the offers received during this draft. I think they should call Rosenhaus’s hand and let him negotiate with other teams with the understanding he is on record that Q should receive equal value to the Roy Williams deal. If he can secure Q the contract he wants and get a deal that will provide RW value to the Cardinals they should accept it. Understanding at this juncture it will need to be a combination of players and 2010 picks.

Thanks to Q for all he has meant to this team, but enough is enough.

I really wish these threads would stop. Q has two years on his contract and his situation isn't different than anyone else in the NFL with two years left on a deal. He can play or he can sit, but the Cardinals would be foolish in the extreme to do something just to do something. I love Q, I own his jersey and I appreciate his greatness, but let the business of football get handled by the teams and players.

Last year he had the same issues in the offseason.
Then he played, broke his face, played some more.
It didn't end perfectly, nor was his performance flawless, but even giving 90% he still 20% better than most other WR's in the league.

He's got too much pride and he won't let his lockeroom down by mailing it in totally.
It'll be fine.

Agreed. If the team can't get (and hasn't gotten) a decent offer for Q (and it appears they haven't), then he needs to play here in AZ. I don't think he will sit. And if he does, then I'll lose all respect for him (not that that means anything at all).

It does.
Athletes do what they do for a number of reasons. Cash, they're good at it, they've been doing it so long they wouldn't know what else to do. The roar of the crowd.
And don't discount that last one. Ask a pro athlete what they miss the most and you won't hear about the game check. You'll hear about the guys in the locker room and 100,000 people screaming for them.
Boldin may say he doesn't care what fans think. He may even believe it, but he's only fooling himself. He's human after all.

FWIW those remarks weren't at the Fan Fest by the way but at Fridays mini-camp.

He is going to do his thing through the media...I am tired of it and I tend to ignore it now. Either something gets done or it doesn't, I believe since nothing was done on draft day he is not going anywhere this season.

If Q chooses to sit instead of play he loses value... two years worth left on his contract. Also he will be two years older. There goes that big new contract. I'd rather sit him than to trade him away for virtually nothing. Q knows all this so he will play.

I couldn't care much less about Q and his contract.

I'm not even reading what his remarks are - Ok, nevermind, I did. Curiosity got the better of me. What a non-story.

One of the comments in there was EXCELLENT and summed up my thoughts perfectly:

Kent: Its not just you. Sorry to come down so hard on you. Darren Urban is scab picker #1. But you run the risk of pushing Boldin to TO territory. How about if you report when he volunteers his complaints against the Cards, like he did at Flagstaff, instead of constantly commenting on his contract and soliciting complaints from him? NO, its really is not a story when he has 2 years on an enforceable contract and has no choice but to honor it or sit out...like all other players. Shouldn't the real questioning be:

1. When did you hurt your hamstring?

2. How long has it been sore?

3. On a scale of 1-10, how had is it?

4. Did it ever heal from last season, i.e., is this a reaggravation, or is this a new injury?

5. What are you doing to rehab and make sure it will hold us this year?

6. How is your hip and your face from thsoe earlier injuries?

7. How does the arrival of Beannie Wells change the prospects for the offense and your developing role in the backfield?

I suggest that is your story.

Btw, how about some interview reports on Oliver Ross, on the new tight end, on the new safety from SF, on the new CB from the Steelers, a story on how Billy Davis is preparing, on the new running back coach, on the new cheerleaders and the huge tryouts and how they look a lot more athletic than in past years, about how Beanie may change the offense, about the new kick-off rules and Kevin Spencers job of writing a new playbook and finding faster/leaner players for special teams as a result, about how Lewis, the 3rd down back, the newly drafted CB, Safety, and 2 OLBs are are fodder for Spencer and actually want to play special teams and al have recent special teams experience , about how our Sprouls-like draftee from Pitt backed up Lesean McCoy but is a great , physical special teams player not just a kick returner, about what risk Morey may be in with all the new speed and multi-talented players Whiz has brought in...as much as we love Morey, about how much competition there is at every postion, about Victor Hobson's and Pago's prospects, about how Highsmith has rehabbed and his prosepcts to make the team...we got hundreds of these unanswered Qs and can't find any real written analysis and story develpoment on these kind of stories that real Card fans want to read aobut...instead of contracts that are not up for 2 years.

Come on Rod, make the guy happy or deal him. It's time for a resolution, the longer its goes on the more he becomes pissed and less likely to resign.
Cards cant give him want he wants: Dansby has no plan on addressng his contract and Wilson is in the last year of his deal. The organization has its priorites straight and Q does not.

There is not enough money to give Q "what he wants." As for dealing him away for scraps, that is just crazy talk.

It goes Wilson-Dansby-Q- Dockett, that is the order and Q simply has no choice but to wait in line.

:bang:dealing with one contract a year like Rod "the snail" Graves does ain't gonna cut it. And if he can't get them extended, quit telling the players and the fans he wants them done. Get them done or shut your piehole Rod!!!

Good thought, but wishful thinking. We are in the "dead zone" until training camp, so posters have to find something to occupy their minds. What would Mitch do if he couldn't bag on Q or Dansby between now and then? :D
