I predict that Boldin wants a contract that tops Fitzgerald's.

Well, I think he could sign for a little less than that. But, I believe that's the position they will start from. He sure as hell didn't hire Rosenhaus to get him a five year extension with a 7 million bonus.

A buddy of mine in the Pitt. area says that they are trying to extend Hines Ward Contract as it ends at the end of 2005. If Ward gets a new deal soon then that should be the benchmark for Boldins contract, not Fitz contract. Not even Fitz deserves that conract but that is the nature of the draft, top 5 picks get way overpayed, and Boldin needs to realize that, if of course that is the contract he is looking for.

The problem in this debate is that we have no idea what Boldin is looking for and what the Cards are offering. There is really no side anyone can take on this until this info comes out.

Yeah that's what I've been saying for months, the closest thing to Quan in the NFL is Ward. And guess what, ward is furious with his contract, after they extended Maddox he said "I'm happy for Tommie but what about me?" And Ward makes about 4-5 times what Quan does right now.

Ward's agent is probably waiting on us to sign Quan.

If we should somehow lose Boldin we are continuing a process of losing starters. Whether you like them or not a team just cannot continue to lose players the quality of Boldin, L.J., last years starting center,etc. I hope the Bodin situation is handled one way or the other with the Cards at least not losing this guy for little to nothing. This sends a bad message to potential FA's and your existing players and sure does not improve morale.

Absolutely john! I hope we can get this done! Building the groundwork is the whole idea going into training camp. Establishing some sort of continuity. This is critical for the Cards to enjoy early success. It always seems as if some early calamity (injury, holdout, lineup shuffles,etc.) starts us out on the wrong foot. We need to come out the gates this year swinging instead of stumbling, and keeping the starters (especially the good ones) in sync is key. Besides, Quan despite this threat, does not strike me as a whiny malcontent who only looks out for himself. Q wants to win, and be in AZ at the same time. Now how many legitimate good players have we been able to say that about in the past few years??
