MARION — Marion Harding dodged the rain all week and managed to start the season with a four-match winning streak.
The Presidents began with a 4-1 Mid Ohio Athletic Conference win over Shelby as they swept the singles matches with Sebastian Lisiecki, Andres Rojas and Christian Pearson and got a second doubles win from Reagan Tway and Isaac Rice.
They blanked Kenton 5-0 with Lisiecki, Pearson and Jeffrey Stimson winning in singles and Rosas/Jack McCrery and Tway/Rice winning in doubles. All were won in two sets.

In a 5-0 win over Fostoria, Lisiecki and Jesse Stump won in singles, while Rosas/McCrery and Jordy Lopez/Pearson won in doubles. The third singles match was forfeited by Fostoria.
In a 4-1 win over Madison, Lisiecki and Pearson took victories in first and third singles respectively, while Rosas prevailed 7-5, 3-6, 10-6 in second singles. McCrery and Stimson also won in second doubles.

More Tennis
- River Valley's Liam Bier and Chloe Valentine teamed in second doubles to post the lone win for the Vikings in a 4-1 loss to Ontario.. The Vikes also fell 5-0 to Bucyrus.
- Pleasant handled RV 5-0, allowing just four points in the five varsity matches. Winning in singles for the Spartans were Alex Yancey, Cael Bower and Landon Severns. Winning in doubles were Ryen Wansik/Brady Werling and Evan Sickmiller/Matt Murphy.
Baseball
- River Valley pushed Ontario to 8 innings, but fell 5-2 at home. J.R. Bates pitched 6 innings for the Vikings, giving up just 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Hayden Kanagy was 2-for-3 at the plate for RV. In the game at Ontario, it was tied at 8-8, but the Vikes lost 11-8. Pate Crawford, Hudson Pollock, Hunter Faust and Leyton Thrush all had two hits for RV, while Kanagy and Pollock stole multiple bases.
- Cardington scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat North Union 4-3 despite being held to just 5 hits. James Fiant and Fisher Schuman each doubled for the Pirates as those two teamed with Josh Goers to allow 8 hits, 1 earned run, 4 walks and 9 strikeouts. For North Union, Tyler Krebehenne scored all 3 runs with 2 hits, and Alex Dexter led with 3 hits. Braylen Riffle struck out 8 and walked 2 for the Wildcats.
- Cardington also beat Fredericktown 10-0. Wyatt Wade tossed a 2-hitter with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts, plus hit a double along with Denton Garrison. Wyatt Denney singled three times and posted 5 steals, while Schuman had 2 singles and 5 steals.
- Krebehenne and Evan Beery both posted 2 singles in an 8-3 loss to Fairbanks by North Union.
- Marion Harding's Tyson Lind pitched a complete game 4-hitter with 9 strikeouts and no walks as the Presidents beat Shelby 6-1. Connor Pennington had 3 singles and Parker Vera-Garcia had 2 RBI for Harding. The Prexies also beat Shelby 5-1. Gavyn Baumgartner pitched a complete game with 4 hits and 5 strikeouts, plus drove in 3 runs. Vera-Garcia added 2 RBI, and Ray J. Scott-Harbolt hit a double.
- Highland beat Pleasant 13-3 with Kort Sears, Zachary Underwood and Caleb Youngman combining for a 4-hitter. Morgan Kline and Branson Newsom led the Scots with 3 hits apiece and each doubling. Kline ended with 3 runs and 2 RBI, and Newsom added 3 RBI. Gavin Wiggand and Zach Church each doubled, and Sears had 3 RBI. For Pleasant, Avery Hamper doubled and singled twice for 2 RBI, and Owen Lowry doubled.
- Ryan Conway singled twice and Kalen Meade doubled in an 11-3 Pleasant loss to Delaware Hayes.
- Northmor's Brooksten Beck and Brendan Barber pitched a 6-hitter with 10 strikeout and 7 walks, while Brady Chapman doubled, and Trevor Brubaker singled three times, but Northridge won the game 5-2. In a 2-0 loss to Centerburg, the Knights were held to 1 hit. Trevor Brubaker allowed 1 earned run and 3 hits with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Also against Centerburg, Northmor lost 5-3, being limited to 4 hits. Ethan Hinton and Jack Bowdre teamed for a 6-hitter with 4 walks and 11 strikeouts for the Knights.
- Elgin's Quinten Harrison hit a grand slam and a single, while Clayton Ware singled three times with 3 RBI in an 11-2 win over Fairbanks. Braydon Lowry doubled and Jacob Isler added 2 singles for the Comets. In a 5-3 loss to Kenton, Nash Lust hit 3 singles, while Harrison added a double, and Peyton Zempter had 2 RBI. Mitchell Askew and Ware combined for 2 hits, 5 walks and 6 strikeouts in the loss.

Track and Field
- Northmor finished fifth at the 15-team Colonel Crawford Grove/Keller Invitational. Cowin Becker led the team with a first in the 400 meters at 51.0 and a second in the long jump at 20 feet, 9 inches, while Conner Stockdale won the long jump at 21-11 1/2 and was third in the high jump at 5-8, and the 4x200 relay won in 1:32.69. Finishing third were Ethan Amens in the 300 hurdles at 42.51, Cade Miracle in the pole vault at 12-6 and the 4x400 relay in 3:34.69. Owen Yunker was fourth in the 110 hurdles at 17.06.
- River Valley also competed as Ben Isler was a runner-up in the pole vault at 12-6, Adison Babb was fourth in the 300 hurdles at 42.63 and Jackson Kloha was fourth in the discus at 138-7 and shot put at 46-6.5.
- Ridgedale's 4x800 team won at CC, clocking an 8:31.63, while Brogan Weston was fourth in the 3200 at 10:42.9.
- North Union was led by Griffin Osborne's third in the 200 at 23.35 and fourth in the 100 at 11.39. The 4x100 team was third in 45.41.
- Pleasant's 4x800 relay was fourth in 8:56.23.
- North Union scored 59 points, RV 42 and Centerburg 38 during a tri-meet at River Valley. Posting wins for the Wildcats were Osborne in the 100 and 200, Cooper Music in the 400, Ben Bonnell in the 800, Max Leavitt in the high jump and Wyatt Davis in the long jump. Getting wins for RV were Kael Swartz in the 1600 and 3200, Babb in the 110 and 300 hurdles, Isler in the pole vault and Kloha in the shot put.
- Highland competed in a tri-meet with Galion and Madison, and Jett Black set the school record in the pole vault with a 13-6. Toby Rogers won both hurdles events, while Kadyn Reichenbach in the 200, Matthew Miller in the 1600, Owen Winkelfoos in the 800 and Henry Spence in the 3200 also won events.
- Marion Harding went to Findlay for a dual meet as Andr Lavette won the 100 and 200 for Harding, while Peyton Ward took the pole vault, and the 4x100 relay also won.

- Northmor track's Cowin Becker won the 400 meters in 51.0 and was runner-up in the long jump at 20 feet, 9 inches at the Colonel Crawford Grove/Keller Invitational.
- Highland track's Jett Black set the school record in the pole vault with a leap of 13 feet, 6 inches in a tri-meet with Galion and Madison.
- Marion Harding baseball's Tyson Lind pitched a complete game four-hitter with nine strikeouts and no walks in a win over Shelby.
- Cardington baseball's Wyatt Wade pitched a two-hitter with two walks and seven strikeouts, plus hit a double in a win over Fredericktown.
- Elgin baseball's Colton Ware hit three singles and had three RBI in a win over Fairbanks.
- There were technical difficulties with the initial boys spring sports poll, which kept the vote totals down. Northmor baseball's Trevor Brubaker, who threw a no-hitter with no walks and seven strikeouts in a win over Lucas, earned 129 of 167 votes (77 percent) to win it. Other nominees were baseball players Hayden Kanagy of River Valley, Ray J. Scott-Harbolt of Marion Harding, Wyatt Young of Mount Gilead and Quinten Harrison of Elgin.
